This is very exciting. Tots bots was one of the leading manufacturers of cloth nappies and went into administration at the end of last year. Nappies made in Glasgow!

Q. What about going on holiday? Do I have to use them then? What about if I want to have a few days off reusable nappies?

This is ok! Just because you have reusable nappies it doesn’t mean you have to use them all the time. Even using 1-2 a day is making a huge difference.

I take disposables on holiday and sometimes I stick my little one in a disposable if I want to not have to change it for a long period.

What are the barriers to using reusable nappies?

Time?
It is true that it takes more of your precious time to use reusable nappies.

Hanging them out to dry and collecting them back up again every few days is a pain, but it just becomes part of your routine and the benefits to your bank balance and the planet are worth it 🌎💷.

Give them a try and see how easily it can fit into your routine. £10 for a month to borrow a full kit.

Nappy liners

We recommend using a nappy liner in your washable nappy, this makes nappy changes less messy and protects the nappy.

You can use the lovely soft fleecy liners, which takes the moisture away from your babies skin or a biodegradable disposable liner which you can throw straight in the bin (not in the toilet).

I have used both in the past and we currently use the fleecy ones as they are lovely and soft.

*** Washable wipes ***
If you know someone who is having a baby, this is a great gift idea, buy a set of washable wipes.

These can be used to wipe dirty hands, faces, tables or bottoms (not at the same time 😂). Even for someone who doesn’t want to use reusable nappies, using washable wipes still saves thousands of disposable wipes going to landfill.

Cheeky wipes are a well known brand or you can make your own by cutting up an old towel or cloth!

Own-brand disposable nappies can cost a family with one child over £1875 in 2.5 years. The cost is much higher if you prefer branded nappies!*

A set of reusable nappies can be very affordable, my go to cheap nappy is an Alva,
At £4.99 each you can get a set of 20 for £100. They often do deals on bulk buys too.

The other brands often do deals on bundles and starter kits. Here are two examples on today.

Bambino mio nappies 10 for £109 and little lambs 10 for £83. Not bad!

If you borrow from the nappy library first you can try out different brands to work out which suits your baby. A month of renting a full kit only costs £10.
