Hebden Royd Town Council has reshaped its Christmas events programme for 2026.
Our new festive offer has families and community groups at its heart.

Instead of one major event in Mytholmroyd and Hebden Bridge, weโ€™ll be hosting a separate Lights Switch On and a Santaโ€™s Grotto on two different dates, in each town.

This will make for a more focused and relaxed experience with more opportunities to join in the festivities AND you can meet Santa much nearer to Christmas!

2026 dates and locations for your diary:

The ponies have done a brilliant job with the Conservation Grazing up at High Hirst Woodmeadow Project over the past few weeks. Soon, they will be heading back home and sheep will be arriving to take over the next phase.

Conservation Grazing is essential to restoring this ancient grassland and securing the biodiversity of the site.

During this time the permissive path will be closed. This is to ensure the welfare of the livestock and to clear the site of dog waste, which can carry harmful parasites.

Hebden Royd Town Council works closely with the Community Policing Team and asks that any instances of dogs worrying livestock and/or cutting of the fence is reported to the Police by calling 999 in an emergency or by calling 111.

Alternative routes can be found via the Public Right of Way on โ€˜High Hirst Walkโ€™ and via โ€˜Law Lane Pathโ€™, please see the map below.

Thanks as always to the volunteers on sheep watch!

๐Ÿด Conservation Grazing with Exmoor Ponies ๐Ÿด

The Exmoor Ponies have returned to High Hirst Woodmeadow Project to continue the conservation grazing on site, after their earlier visit in February.

The ponies have come from National Trust's Hardcastle Crags.

Exmoors are a hardy breed, and will graze the rougher vegetation on site, enabling other plants to thrive and boosting .

Thank you to our volunteers, who are keeping a close eye on them. This role is more important than ever during the extremely hot weather we've been having.
As always we ask that dogs are kept on a lead any dog fouling is dealt with and that the site is used responsibly.

on High Hirst Woodmeadow supports the aims of Calderdale Council's Ecological Emergency Action Plan for grasslands in the borough.
