Diversion in Mytholmroyd - Saturday (possibly Sunday, and maybe even Monday). If you are coming to collect your glasswork, or coming to a workshop there is a diversion in Mytholmroyd today. Please follow these instructions -
There is a diversion in Mytholmroyd, so if you are coming from Burnley Road - A646, please follow these instructions -

There are two bridges in Mytholmroyd, the main bridge road is closed, the diversion will try to send you well out of the way, so instead go over the other bridge in Mytholmroyd.

Turn onto the bridge on Caldene Avenue, towards Mytholmroyd Community and Leisure centre.

Take the second left onto Thrush Hill Road, and go through the tunnel.

Follow the road which turns into Stocks Lane to the junction next to The Old Station Studio.

Turn right onto Cragg Road - B6138

You can then follow my instructions to the studio, looking out for the dragon's head hedge and turn left opposite the caravan park onto Thornber Business Park.

Call me if you have any problems. I've emailed today's workshop guests with this info too (check spam) xx 07779041237

Here's Blue Moon, our 57ft widebeam live aboard, on a rare outing, travelling past our mooring on the Rochdale Canal. It's been a busy week blacking the bottom, an important maintenance job, which thankfully only needs to be done every 3-4 years.
In order to be positioned correctly on our mooring we had to go past the mooring, down the canal for about 1.5 miles, go down two locks to the nearest turning circle, turn around, come back up the locks, and moor up.
As idyllic as boating might sound, the Rochdale canal is so poorly maintained that what should be a beautiful scenic trip down (and back up) the canal, Hebden Bridge to Mytholmroyd took about 5 hours yesterday evening! Low water levels makes boating feel like driving a tank through muddy sludge, and it took all my strength to operate some of the leaking locks that waste the little water there is in the canal! So I'll take this opportunity to say Canal & River Trust show a little love to the Rochdale please!
We made it back onto our lovely mooring, phew! After 4 days in the dry dock, scraping, scrubbing, jet washing and painting black tar like paint on the hull, I'm looking forward to potting up my seedlings and spending more time on my dyers garden at Redacre Growing Project
We are so thankful for our lovely mooring here. We'll be floating not boating for a while now πŸ’™πŸ©΅

I always try to offer a range of workshops that (hopefully) suit everyone's creative abilities and budget. My aim is to spread the crafty love, and introduce more people to the magic of fused glass!
I'm hoping my new-ish Beginners Taster into Fused Glass allows more people to experience the joys of making and creating. On this workshop guests can make a glass bird, light-catcher or coaster, and a piece of dichroic glass jewellery. A budget workshop at Β£45 for 2.5hrs of creativity. Beware though, fused glass is a highly addictive craft!
I'm running this workshop again on Saturday 11th July and Sunday 16th August. On request, I can also add some mid-week dates over the summer holidays so mini crafters can have a go!

Nature, wool, colour and crafting, what's not to love!
On Saturday 13th June I'll be brewing up some natural dyes to dye wool and yarn, and whilst the dye pots are simmering we'll create 3D toadstools out of wool fibres using needle felting techniques. I have a lovely selection of naturally dyed wool to use, the colours are perfect for making these lovely toadstools.

Bali memories....hanging out my textile creations in the hot sun, in my happy place, covered in plant dye and mud modifier, wearing a mucky apron, playing with nature and textiles.
I had a mini creative victory yesterday as I recreated a completely natural indigo dye vat using tamarind as the fructose element, just like we were taught in Bali
This is known as the 1-2-3 method, 50g indigo, 100g lime, 150g tamarind.
It's a small step on this natural dyeing journey but it felt good to bring Bali back to Yorkshire!
Thank you to
for the photo xx
