💙 National Volunteers’ Week 💙

Heanor & Loscoe Town Council would like to share and celebrate this fantastic message from Heanor Juniors following the Girls Tournament – Year 2, Day 2 ⚽🎉

What an incredible achievement:

* 34 clubs
* 53 teams
* 610 girls taking part
* And around 64 volunteers giving their time across the weekend

Events like this are only possible because of the dedication, energy and generosity of volunteers who give up their time to support grassroots sport and our wider community. From coaches and referees to organisers, families and supporters – thank you for making events like this such a success. 💙

A special thank you also goes to all sponsors and partners who supported the tournament, helping to create a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for everyone involved.

Grassroots football is about more than just the game – it’s about friendship, opportunity, community spirit and creating positive experiences for young people. ⚽

Heanor & Loscoe Town Council is proud to recognise and celebrate the volunteers who help make our community stronger.

⚽ A Wonderful Piece of Heanor Football History ⚽

As excitement builds ahead of the start of the World Cup, we thought we’d share this fascinating post from Heanor History Society.

Many football fans will remember England’s historic World Cup victory and the legendary players who made it happen. But did you know that one of England’s greatest-ever footballers, Sir Bobby Charlton, once played in Heanor and even scored a hat-trick here?

Heanor History Society has unearthed a newspaper report from September 1978 telling the story of this remarkable local sporting moment.

It’s a wonderful reminder of the rich history of our town and the memorable events that have taken place here over the years.

Do you remember the match? Were you there? We’d love to hear your memories and see any photographs you may have from the day.

Thank you to Heanor History Society for sharing another fantastic piece of our town’s history.

⚽🏆 Here’s to celebrating our local heritage and enjoying the World Cup in the weeks ahead! Heanor Town

WORLD CUP WINNER SCORES HAT TRICK AT HEANOR!
IT REALLY HAPPENED!
When the 2026 World Cup starts next week, it will be sixty years since England won the trophy, yet those of us who are still around well remember every moment of it and fondly recall all the players who brought the trophy home.
But do you remember when one of them, the almost legendary Bobby Charlton, came to Heanor to play in a match, going on to score a hat trick? Perhaps you were there?
This Ripley & Heanor newspaper report from September 1978 tells the story of the game.

Congratulations to Ezra and Ivy of Ezra's Confetti on this fantastic achievement!

The Mayor was delighted to recently open their new shop in Heanor, and it’s wonderful to see their hard work and dedication already being recognised on a national stage.

Being named in Belle Magazine’s prestigious “Luxe List” is a remarkable honour in the wedding industry – a real testament to the passion, creativity and commitment they put into their business.

This is a great success story for Heanor and a shining example of local entrepreneurs achieving great things. We are incredibly proud to have businesses like Ezra’s Confetti in our town.

Please join us in congratulating Ezra and Ivy on this well-deserved recognition. Here’s to even more success in the future!
