🌻𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 - 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿!🌻

The results are in and we have a sunflower champion!

Huge congratulations to our winners, 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘆𝗮 𝗛𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗶, whose incredible sunflower reached a whopping 330cm (10ft 10in)!!

A massive thank you to everyone who entered. We've loved seeing all your fantastic sunflowers and the time and effort you've put into growing them.

There were some brilliant entries, we've shared a few photos of some of our favourites below.

Well done to everyone who took part, and congratulations again to our winner.

It will be necessary to close Warmlake Road, Chart Sutton from 2nd September 2026 for up to 3 days.

The road will be closed outside Magpie Cottage.

The alternative route is via Warmlake Road, Maidstone Road A274, Plough Wents Road B2163, Park Lane, Back Lane, Amber Lane, Warmlake Road, and reversed.

This is to repair a burst main in the footway/verge to be carried out by South East Water.

This is due to a fly tip, works to be carried out by Kent County Council.

Message from KCC Highways:

This is to let you know that, as part of the on-going maintenance and improvement of the highway network, Kent County Council will be working to improve the road surface of Headcorn and Hawkenbury Roads, Staplehurst between the junctions of A229 Staplehurst and Four Oaks Road.

These road surface improvement works are programmed to start on the 26th August and should take 2 day to complete. These activities will be undertaken during a short working window between the hours of 7am to 7pm

This type of work can be affected by bad weather, so if it is not possible for us to carry it out at this time, we will arrange a new date and let you know via a letter drop to your home. We will also put up signs along the road, before we start, showing the date we plan to start work.

During these essential works it will be necessary to close the road completely so that we can carry out the works safely for both the workforce and road users. During this closure, a diversion route will be in place via A229 High Street, Staplehurst, Frittenden Road, Staplehurst Road, Headcorn Road, Water Lane, Moat Road, Summerhill and Four Oaks Road.
