With the warmer weather on its way βοΈ, people may start to move outside for a barbecue ππ.
By following the Fire Kills campaignβs top tips, you can ensure your barbecue is a safe, enjoyable event.
β’ π₯ Never leave a lit barbecue unattended.
β’ π Follow the safety instructions provided with disposable barbecues.
β’ π« Never use a barbecue indoors.
β’ π‘ Make sure your barbecue is well away from sheds, fences, trees, shrubs or garden waste.
β’ πΆπΎ Keep children, pets and garden games away from the cooking area.
β’ βοΈ After cooking, make sure the barbecue is cool before moving it.
β’ βοΈ Use enough charcoal to cover the base of the barbecue, but not more.
β’ ποΈ Allow ashes to fully cool before disposing of them. Do not put hot ashes into dustbins or wheelie bins as they can melt the plastic and start a fire.
β’ π Enjoy yourself but stay in control if youβre in charge of the barbecue. β’ πΏ Always keep a bucket of water, or a garden hose nearby for emergencies.
