❗ Prolific shoplifter with suspended sentence now behind bars❗

A 49-year-old man who was handed a suspended sentence for shoplifting has now been jailed after being caught stealing again a week later.

Paul Restall, of Harrison Gardens [Illogan] was given an eight-week suspended sentence on 16 February following a spate of four shopliftings and a breach of his criminal behaviour order.

The Cornwall local will now spend 18-weeks in prison after stealing from Co-op in St Ives and Tesco in Penzance just ten days after his initial conviction.

Restall appeared at Truro Magistrates Court on Tuesday 14 April where he admitted to the two thefts which took place on 26 and 28 February.

We take business crime seriously - we'll continue to work with our local retailers to target prolific offenders to disrupt, deter and prevent theft from taking place.

➡️ Please report crime to us - we're listening and taking action.

❗ Man found with 20k worth of drugs sentenced to seven years behind bars❗

40-year-old Peter Love, from Hayle, has been found guilty of four counts of possession to supply class A and B drugs.

He was arrested back on 3 October 2025 where he was found to have a stash of drugs in his backpack whilst out walking his dog.

The drugs seized included he**in with a street value of over £10,000, over 60 grams of co***ne, 26 grams of crack co***ne and 250 grams of amphetamine.

It’s been a positive result to remove this significant quantity of drugs from our streets and put an offender behind bars who would have played a part in supplying them.

We continue to target the drug dealers and drug supply on the streets of Devon and Cornwall - hopefully this serves as a stark warning that there is no place for drug crime on our streets.

👉 Have information about suspected drug crime? Report it to us - your information is key in our investigations

Gaining quick access to a property can be vital for saving lives or securing evidence...

Our Specialist Operations team are looking for any unwanted metal roller shutter doors, sheets of metal or metal skinned doors, which they'll use to practice door-breaching techniques.

The team would also be grateful for any unwanted toughened plastic doors.

If you think you may be able to help, please get in touch with Matt by emailing [email protected].

If the door meets our needs, we’ll arrange to collect it from you.

Thank you!

Are you thinking of buying an e-scooter as a Christmas Present? Please make sure you know how to use it legally. You can only use one on private land and you must have the permission of the landowner to do so. It is illegal to ride them on the road or in public places, such as parks, pavements and shopping centres. You risk it being seized, receiving a minimum fine of £300 and receiving points on your driving licence.
Yesterday an adult male was seen by an officer to be riding an e-scooter at speed along Penzance Promenade. Exiting the Prom he joined the road and sped across in front of the marked police car, almost causing a collision. The scooter was subsequently seized under S.165 of the Road Traffic Act as not Insured.
Be assured that we are not out to ruin anyone's Christmas or 'steal' their toys but we are responding to concerns raised by the community about these machines being ridden on pavements and in public places where people could be seriously injured, including the rider.
