National Animal Welfare Trust Cornwall National Animal Welfare Trust rescue centre in Hayle, Cornwall, rehoming approx 300 animals per year

The National Animal Welfare Trust's centre in Cornwall came about as a result of the inspiring work of Molly Wyatt. Molly worked hard over many years to provide a rescue and rehoming service in Cornwall, and shortly before her death in 1996 she asked if NAWT would be willing to carry on her work. We agreed to and in 1997, we took over financial and organisational responsibility for the work in Cornwall. We rehome around 300 cats and dogs at our Hayle centre every year. Every animal has been individually assessed and cared for by our experienced and dedicated staff. All animals are vet-checked, neutered, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped before being rehomed. We also have a local charity shop in Hayle and can accept donations for the shops directly at the centre.

🐾 Meet Millie 🐾
3½-year-old Tri-Coloured Female Collie

Looking for a special companion? We'd love you to meet Millie.

Millie is a beautiful, intelligent collie who has come such a long way during her time with us. As you'll see from her video, she is playful, relaxed and full of affection when she's in surroundings where she feels safe and comfortable.
When Millie first meets new people, she can be a very worried and nervous girl. She may cower, try to move away, or become startled by sudden or loud noises. Because of this, she'll need patient adopters who understand that trust takes time.

The wonderful thing about Millie is that once she gets to know you, she blossoms into a loving and loyal companion. She forms strong bonds with her people and enjoys affection and companionship from those she trusts. Watching her confidence grow is incredibly rewarding.

Millie isn't ready for busy walks in crowded parks or on bustling beaches just yet. At present, she is happiest being exercised in quieter locations where she can relax without feeling overwhelmed. We currently walk her on a long line so she has plenty of freedom to explore while remaining safe should an unexpected noise spook her.
One of Millie's favourite things is travelling in the car, which makes it easy to take her to peaceful walking spots away from the crowds. She enjoys getting out and about and loves having the opportunity to explore at her own pace.

🏡 Millie's ideal home would be:
• A calm, patient household.
• In a quieter location with access to peaceful walking areas.
• With adopters willing to continue building her confidence.
• Potentially with experienced dog owners who understand nervous dogs.

❤️ In return, you'll gain:
• A devoted best friend.
• A loving and affectionate companion.
• The joy of watching a nervous dog learn to trust and thrive.

Millie may need a little extra time and understanding, but for the right person, she will be worth every moment. If you're looking for a loyal companion and can offer Millie the patient home she deserves, we'd love to hear from you.
Could you be the person to give Millie her forever home?

Cute Story Alert! 🚨
Meet Ricky. Ricky is just a kitten a few weeks old who came to us all alone and in need of a home. We named him after Rick Rescorla, the 9/11 hero from Hayle.

We tried searching for his lost mum and siblings but with no luck. Ricky was obviously missing them hugely as he was loudly meowing and generally quite an unhappy boy. :(

We happen to have another litter of kittens here.... around the same age...also waiting for their forever homes. So after a vet check to make sure he was ok, we attempted to introduce Ricky to his 4 new adoptive siblings.

We won't lie at first they werent best pleased! 😂 But after some supervised bonding time and help from our cattery team... Ricky and his new siblings were one big happy family. 🥰 And as you can see Ricky was officially one of the pack!

Now thats what we call a Happy Tail! 🥰 Good Luck Ricky!

It's nearly the end of the week... we think Archie is all of us today 😂

Mary... Queen of St Mary's!
We love a Happy Rehoming Tail! And this ones a bit different! Mary Joined us looking for her forever home a couple of months ago... when her new owner put in an application and fell in love with her at first sight we knew this match was meant to be... and her new life was about to be underway in the Isles of Scilly! Mary is officially a resident of St Mary's! Now thats what we call the perfect match! 😆

After a quick 20 minute flight (she took to the skies with EASE!) Mary was home in St Mary's and loving her new life as Queen of the Island!

Have a happy life Mary and Family! :D
