ONLY THREE MORE DAYS TO GO UNTIL THE MAKERFIELD BY-ELECTION!

Every vote will count if we are to elect Andy Burnham to work for us and bring Hope, and keep out Reform and their divisive policies.

Great to be out with Mick, Anne Clarke for New Mills & Hayfield , Connor Rand MP and Becky today, talking to residents. Lots of support for Andy, but it's going to be close with Reform.

LAST WEEK WAS VOLUNTEER WEEK!

There are so many wonderful volunteers in our community that it is impossible to list them.all - and thank them ❤️

But I will give a special mention to the incredible Hayfield Primary School Walking Bus volunteers- and their amazing little passengers!

Recently they were rewarded by having two very special guests from the Sett Valley Alpacas!

The children loved them, and they caused quite a stir as the ambled down the Trail to the bus station!

Huge thanks to Anne-Marie and Alistair for organising this 👏 and to Cllr Nyland from Hayfield Parish Council who had the genius idea of inviting them along. Thank you to the Parish Councillors who joined us.

Thank you ALL to volunteers in our community. You are its heart ❤️ and soul.

GREAT TO BE WITH Anne Clarke for New Mills & Hayfield and New Mills East Councillor, Alan Barrow at our monthly surgery outside New Mills Co-op.

Residents were asking about the growth of Airbnbs in our area, the power of social media and careless and unkind comments, and the Makerfield by-election. Thank you for taking time to talk to us!

The backdrop to this was, of course New Mills Carnival with its wonderful Heroes and Villains theme. It was great to see a few Cruella De Vils in shop windows - my favourite movie villain of all time 😅

FROM COTTONOPOLIS TO THE CALICO TRAIL 🐝

History, craft and storytelling, three passions that I share with many of you, have been brought together in this wonderful community project.

Threads of a City: Manchester Tapestry Project is the inspiration of Dr Lisa Gold, a professor at Manchester Metropolitan University who also happens to be a New Mills resident!

Working with colleagues at Manchester Histories the group will be creating a huge tapestry, made up of thirty panels, each panel telling a different aspect of Manchester's history from 1853, celebrating its diversity, crrativity and endeavour.

Experienced stitcher, Pennie Roberts from Sustainable Hayfield, and I were delighted to participate in the very first tapestry workshop at Manchester Central Library HistoriesHub.

How exciting to connect Hayfield's Calico industry with the cotton Mills of Manchester!

Thank you to all involved for such and inspiring, fun and inclusive afternoon!

FANTASTIC TO BE AT WEMBLEY STADIUM YESTERDAY TO SEE THE MAGNIFICENT TEAM WIN THE WOMEN'S FA CUP 🏆 🩵

There was a wonderful atmosphere in the stadium as fans from City and Brighton & Hove Albion FC mingled and shared stories and dreams! Great to see young girls - and their brothers- being inspired by these outstanding players - starting with grandchildren Lila and Rory 🩵🩵

The four goals from City came from our incredible Jamaican international, Bunny Shaw 🇯🇲, our magnificent captain and leading Lioness, Alex Greenwood 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿, Aoba Fujino, our Japanese and Asian Cup winning star 🇯🇵 and all-time leading goalscorer in the WSL and Dutch International, Vivienne Miedama 🇳🇱

Truly a global family, made in Manchester 🐝

Congratulations City Women 👏 💙

THANK YOU TO THE WONDERFUL STAFF AT MyActive New Mills FOR THIS TIMELY COURSE OF SWIMMING LESSONS 🩵

It has been heartbreaking to read of the water-related deaths that have been reported during this hot spell.

Swimming is a joy - and fantastic exercise - but it is so important to learn how to swim safely.

WHAT A SPECTACULAR DISPLAY OF WONDERFUL ARTWORK THIS WEEKEND FROM Hayfield Artists ❤️

Thank you to all the artists and makers who opened their homes and studios to allow us to look at - and buy - some of their stunning pieces of work.

The weather was gorgeous 🌞 and Hayfield looked particularly lush and green 💚

It was great to talk to the artists, and learn a little about techniques, materials and inspiration.

The Hayfield Art Trail is on tomorrow as well, so pop into Hayfield for a glorious day ❤️

WHERE THE WYE FLOWS AND THE NUTHATCH NESTS 💚

Many thanks to the wonderful Climate and Nature Officers from High Peak Borough Council Derbyshire Wildlife Trust , amazing volunteers from Buxton Town Team and Buxton Field Club who led the walk through Ashwood Park in Buxton yesterday.

Members of the community had come from across the High Peak to see the fantastic nature recovery work that has been done in the park: river restoration work, cut and collect mowing to support the growth of wildflower meadows, bird boxes - and an outdoor gym and sports area so people can be active whilst immersed in nature.

One of the main themes of the workshop in the afternoon was to look at ways we could engage a wider and diverse range of people to learn about and enjoy this beautiful space.

Thank you to everyone for such and inspiring and enjoyable day.
