If walls could talk!!

It is an absolute travesty that the key has been removed from public use, despite it being almost entirely public money that funded the restoration.

Here is hoping it may see visitors again this year, without the threat of tree felling, snares or legal action.

Yesterday was quite dramatic, in that there has been a fire on Minto Crags, where Fatlips Castle is situated. Firefighters had to navigate the steep hill, woods and layout of the crags to reach the fire. Firefighters are still on the scene this morning tending to the smouldering blaze.
I am in awe of the people of the Borders, who never cease to amaze me with their bravery, fortitude, resilience and absolute skill at times like this. A whole community coming together. This fire involved reserve fire fighters who have to come out of their usual jobs to help - which has a knock on effect for the other work places.
We fight to save and protect the places that we love. Generation after generation.
Well done all round, everyone involved in tackling the blaze, and thank god it didn't reach the castle. Hats off to you all.
