Hawes Fire Station is a retained station with currently 12 crew.

Each firefighter has a full time role with another company and we spend two and half hours a week training on station keeping our skills refreshed.

A few pictures from today, first we were sent to water entering properties in the Lunds area, whilst there we were re directed to vehicles stuck in floodwater near Appersett.
On arrival a local farmer had got the cars occupants to safety, but the van driver was trapped in deep fast flowing water, crews made the decision to perform a sn**ch rescue due to the danger the driver was in.
Sedbergh & Reeth crews both assisted in the rescue.
Cross border working at it's best 👌

Opened our account for 2026. Call out number 1 on 02/01/26 was an agricultural machine on fire at Walden.. extinguished using two hose reels, two breathing apparatus sets and thermal image camera along with Leyburn crew

Call out number 2 today ...assist ambulance with a difficult extracation of a casualty from the upstairs of a property in Askrigg. Casualty taken to hospital via air ambulance.

Hawes crew just attended a chimney fire tonight....our 151st callout this year.
The crew would like to wish everyone a quiet and peaceful Christmas and New Year....and will be on call throughout the festive period 🎄

A Royal visit.
This week we were joined by Area Manager Damien Henderson who brought a hamper for the crew for achieving 99% availability over the year.

Incident today at Leyburn along with Richmond Fire Station , Colburn Fire Station & aerial ladder platform from Darlington.
We got to use the new Breathing Apparatus & Entry control board for the first time at an incident.
Was nice to have a change from 4 Automatic Fire Alarms in the previous week.
We and other stations in Richmondshire are currently recruiting, if this is something you think you could do pop along to see us for a chat.

Just a few pictures from our travels over to Langdale Moor over the past couple of weeks, we have also been on Standby at Ripon, Bentham, Northallerton & Richmond, as well as several incidents on our own patch.
A big thanks to not only the crew but also their families & friends, for helping out with child care, work & our alerters constantly going off.
We had a cheer from people in Whitby as we went for fish & chips which was lovely & a very kind lady generously bought us our takeaway in Richmond last night, thank you to her .

Not often you see Hawes Appliance in a wheat field, along with Malton we were sent to a baler on fire along with areas of the field.
