*** Update ***

Information is still requested regarding the owner of a blue BIC Sport Bilbao sit on top kayak. The kayak was reported washed up at Layriggs near Silecroft yesterday.
After the team failed to locate it yesterday we were contacted by a member of the public who had removed it from the beach so it did not get washed out again, it is secured and ready for the owner to claim it. There were no contact details on it.

Kayaking and canoeing are among the most popular Watersports in the UK. But things can go wrong when out on the water, even if you're a seasoned professional. Always wear a Personal Floatation Device (PFD) and wear bright, suitable clothing so that you can be spotted easily. Label your equipment with contact details, if it's lost we can check that you are safe.

๐Ÿšจ Emergency Services Day (999 Day) ๐Ÿšจ

Today we take a moment to express our thanks to all our emergency services colleagues ( ) whether they operate on land, sea or in the air who work or volunteer with one common goal, to help keep our communities safe.

At 9am, on the 9th day of the 9th month we take a moment to remember all those we have lost in the line of duty in service of others as, without such dedication, bravery & selflessness 24hrs a day / 365 days a year, the world would be in a far different place.

So let's show our appreciation on Emergency Services Day ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Planning a trip to the coast this Bank Holiday weekend? ๐ŸŒŠ

Enjoy the ๐ŸŒž but please take extra care at the beach and in the sea โ€“ donโ€™t make this weekend one to remember for all the wrong reasonsโ€ฆ

and by leaving inflatables at home, checking tide times and conditions; visiting a lifeguarded beach where possible; and always carry a fully-charged mobile phone. ๐Ÿ‘

It has been one of our busiest ever summers but, remember, we will always be there to take your call and help if you or someone else is in trouble at the coast. Call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

*** Callout ***
Team paged by Belfast Coastguard early this morning and tasked to Drigg following a report of possible ordnance on the foreshore.

Team attended the scene with Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team and located the item. Description, details and location passed to EOD. The Army disposal team from Catterick attended and dealt with it accordingly.

If you see anything on the beach which looks out of place, do not approach or touch it. Get a location, using what3words, then call 999 and get us out. We will then arrange for its safe disposal.

It was Tel's first incident since becoming operational. Ironically it was about 2 miles from his home.
