πŸŽ‰βš“ TODAY IS THE DAY! βš“πŸŽ‰

One of Haverfordwest's oldest, proudest, and most important traditions returns today as we celebrate the historic Beating of the Bounds.

This incredible civic event has brought our community together for generations, and I would love to see as many residents as possible join us for what promises to be a fantastic day for all ages.

πŸ‘‘ See the Sheriff and I in our full civic regalia as we lead the ceremonial inspection of the historic boundary lines of our county town.

We are honoured to be joined by:
⭐ The Deputy Lord Lieutenant
⭐ The High Sheriff of Dyfed
⭐ Mayors and civic leaders from across Pembrokeshire

And it's not just about history...

🎈 children's activities
🏰 bouncy castles
🎨 face painting
πŸ” Refreshments available
πŸŽ‰ Fun for the whole family

Whether you've attended before or are experiencing it for the very first time, this is a wonderful opportunity to witness a centuries-old tradition that makes Haverfordwest so unique.

As Mayor and Admiral of the Port, I am incredibly proud to help preserve these traditions while bringing our community together in celebration.

Come along, bring your family, bring your friends, and be part of a day that showcases the very best of our town.

πŸ’™ Haverfordwest is the Best in the West.
πŸ’™ Haverfordwest is the Beacon of the West.

Let's make this year's Beating of the Bounds one of the biggest and best yet!

πŸš£β€β™‚οΈ FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 12 YEARS, THE DALE TO HAVERFORDWEST LONGBOAT RACE HAS RETURNED β€” AND WHAT A SIGHT IT WAS! πŸš£β€β™‚οΈ

Today, our town welcomed home crews who completed the incredible 22-mile journey from Dale to Haverfordwest, rowing up the beautiful Cleddau and finishing on a Riverside packed with supporters.

As Admiral of the Port, it was a privilege to congratulate the competitors and celebrate the return of this historic event. The determination, teamwork and resilience shown by every crew was truly inspiring.

But the work didn't stop at the finish line! Alongside Councillor Tom Moses, I was proud to help bring all 24 longboats safely back onto shore. It's safe to say we've both earned our supper tonight!

Most importantly, it was fantastic to see so many people lining the Riverside, cheering on the rowers and enjoying a wonderful day in the heart of our county town. The atmosphere was absolutely electric.

This race is an important part of our maritime heritage, and I am delighted to confirm that we will be supporting its return next year. After a 12-year absence, it was wonderful to see this tradition brought back to life.

Congratulations to all of the crews who took part, the winners of the race, and every volunteer and organiser who made today possible.

Days like this remind us why Haverfordwest is the Best in the West. ❀️

πŸŒŠβ˜€οΈ What. A. Day. β˜€οΈπŸŒŠ

Today, Haverfordwest truly came alive.

From one end of the riverside to the other, it was incredible to see so many people enjoying themselves at the Haverfordwest River Festival. Families, friends, visitors, community groups, local businesses and volunteers all came together to create an atmosphere that was nothing short of amazing.

Looking across a packed riverside filled with smiling faces was a proud moment. It was wonderful to see over a thousand people enjoying our town, celebrating our community, and making memories together along the banks of the Western Cleddau.

Haverfordwest Town Council was delighted to support the festival through HaverHub , and it was fantastic to see so many activities bringing people together throughout the day. Events like this show the very best of our town and the strength of our community spirit.

A special mention must go to the team at Waldo Lounge and Riverside Shopping Centre for organising the charity duck race, which was an absolute highlight of the day and brought plenty of excitement, laughter and friendly competition to the river.

None of this would be possible without the organisers, volunteers, sponsors, performers, local businesses and everyone who attended. Thank you for your hard work, dedication and commitment to making today such a tremendous success.

Days like today remind us exactly what makes Haverfordwest so special. We are a town with a rich history, a bright future, and a community that always comes together to support one another.

As Mayor, it fills me with enormous pride to see our town thriving, our riverside bustling, and our community stronger than ever.

Today wasn't just a festivalβ€”it was a celebration of everything that makes Haverfordwest The Best in the West.

❀️ Community.
πŸ’™ Pride.
🌟 Togetherness.

And if today proved anything, it's that Haverfordwest is, and always will be, the Best in the West.

🌟 WHAT A FANTASTIC DAY AT PEMBROKESHIRE COLLEGE! 🌟

Today, the Sheriff Councillor Dani Thomas-Turner Councillor and I had the pleasure of attending the Pembrokeshire College Fun Day, and what an incredible event it was!

From start to finish, the campus was full of energy, laughter, and community spirit. It was wonderful to see so many residents, families, learners, staff, and community organisations coming together to enjoy a day packed with activities and opportunities.

A very special thank you goes to our fantastic College Ambassadors, Dawid, Domink, and Eli Sky, who kindly took the time to show us around. They were knowledgeable, passionate, welcoming, and an absolute credit to the College. The future of Pembrokeshire is certainly bright with young people like these leading the way.

It was also a pleasure to speak with the many stakeholders including New Pembrokeshire Pride, The VC Gallery , and community partners who help make events like this possible. Their dedication to supporting our young people and wider community does not go unnoticed.

As Mayor, one of the greatest privileges of this role is seeing our community at its very best, and today was one of those days. Seeing residents of Haverfordwest enjoying themselves, making memories, and connecting with one another is exactly what community is all about.

A huge congratulations to everyone involved in organising such a successful event. You should all be incredibly proud.

πŸ’™ Community.
πŸ’™ Opportunity.
πŸ’™ Togetherness.

Days like today remind us of the incredible talent, kindness, and spirit that exists across our town and county.

And once again, it proves why Haverfordwest is truly the Best in the West! ⚜️
