Is your watersport equipment clearly labelled? 🏄🏻‍♀️

Adding your contact details to your canoe, paddleboard, kayak, or other kit helps us reach you quickly if you ever get separated from it. If we find your equipment, we can contact you straight away to confirm you’re safe.

You can order our free waterproof labels here:

Once they arrive, write your details on and stick the label securely to your equipment.

The remnants of Hurricane Erin will hit our shores overnight Bank Holiday Monday into Tuesday.

The weather system will bring large swell to our peninsula and beaches so please take care.

Yesterday (29 June) our lifeguards at Newgale and Whitesands rescued five people and assisted a further seven from rip currents. All of which were executed outside of our flagged zones.

The combination of bigger surf and wind increases the likelihood and strength of rip currents.

We position our flags in the safest areas of the beach, and where possible use red flags or wind breaks to mark rip currents.

A reminder to swim and bodyboard between the red and yellow flags or surf, kayak and paddleboard between the black and white flags.

If you find yourself caught in a rip current:
🌊Don’t try to swim or you’ll get exhausted
🌊If you can stand, wade don’t swim
🌊If you can, swim parallel to the shore until free of the rip and then head for shore
🌊Always raise your hand and shout for help

If you see anyone in difficulty at the coast, call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.

Stay safe❤️
