Next month we’ll be starting essential maintenance work on the A38 Willington bridge near Burton upon Trent, which carries the A5132 Carriers Road over the A38.

We’ll be carrying out concrete repairs, replacing bridge joints, re-waterproofing, resurfacing and upgrading safety barriers - keeping the bridge safe and reliable for years to come.

We’ll keep the A38 open as much as possible throughout the scheme to keep traffic moving, using a mix of narrow lanes and lane closures between Claymills Interchange and Toyota Island.

💬 Want to know more?
We’re holding two Public Information Events at Repton Village Hall (DE65 6GR) where you’ll be able to see our plans, understand diversion routes, and ask any questions you may have.

📍Tuesday 8 September 2026, between 9:30am and 12:30pm.

📍Thursday 10 September 2026, between 4pm and 8pm.
