Week 1 ✅

It was lovely to welcome everyone back this week. We miss the children during the summer holidays so it’s been wonderful to see their smiley faces as they walk through the gates.

A very big welcome to our new pupils and families that have joined us. This includes pupils across the school and those new to nursery. On Monday, our Reception children start and this will be very exciting.

The new school year brings fresh opportunities for everyone. New starts, personal goals, aiming high and being the best we can be! Change also brings uncertainty and butterflies in our tummies. This week has all been about settling the children - helping them feel safe and welcome in their new environments.

We have been so impressed with the start to the term and look forward to everything this year has in store!

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

It was wonderful to run our rescheduled sports events after the heatwave ☀️

Everyone showed great sportsmanship and support, cheering on their team members and giving their best to earn points for their team. Thank you to our parents, carers and friends for coming to support the children. Our overall winners were The Red Team 🔴 so a big well done to them 🙌🏼

Year 6 performed superbly in their end of year production, ‘Grossbusters’. There were plenty of toilet jokes as well as a beautiful underlying message to celebrate difference. This is very much the OVPA way, so a very fitting choice. Every single pupil was outstanding and we were incredibly proud. Just wonderful 💚

Our leavers celebrated their final days of primary school with an evening party and a day at Knockhatch. They have been a fabulous cohort, doing superbly in their SATs and maturing beautifully over the year. We know they will be fabulous as they move on to the next part of their educational journey 🥺 ♥️

3 days left of term and lots of fun, reflecting and celebration to be had. We can’t wait! 💙

What a fabulous week it has been! 💙

Our younger pupils enjoyed a fantastic visit from Phil at Jaws and Claws, meeting some amazing creatures up close. They were so gentle and brave with African Land Snails, Tree Frogs, a Bullfrog, Tortoises, a Skink and a Snake! 🐌🐸🦎🐍

Our older children have loved visiting Hastings Aquarium to see marine life first-hand, and Dolphin Class also enjoyed a trip to The Smugglers Cave to deepen their learning.

Well done to Shark Class for their super ukulele performance sharing what they have learned over the last two terms. This was complimented by our guitarists playing some of the music they have mastered in their lessons with Nick. Fabulous 🎸 👏🏻

Year 6 are proudly wearing their leavers’ hoodies as they begin their final full week at primary school. The end is near, and emotions are definitely starting to show. We are looking forward to seeing their production of ‘Grossbusters’ and helping them celebrate with a leavers’ party and a fun trip to Knockhatch Adventure Park this week 👻 💚

Make the most of it Year 6 because you will look back with so many fond memories when it’s all over 💙🥺

It’s been a week of cultural and sporting achievements for OVPA with plenty of celebration 🎉

🏃🏽‍♂️ 🏃🏼‍♀️ Our athletics squad performed tremendously in Town Sports where they competed against other schools in a range of track and field events, securing some amazing outcomes!

8 Gold medals 🥇
9 silver medals 🥈
15 bronze medals 🥉
4th place in the league 🎖️

Not only were they praised for their sporting ability but for the way they cooperated, supported and encouraged each other. 🙌🏼

♟️ ♟️ Huge congratulations to our county chess team, who won two trophies after an intense competition at Ardingly College. The chess team have been working hard on their game play and strategic thinking, practising during their lunchtimes. The hard work has paid off and they were truly rewarded for their efforts.

🎥 🎭 A great round of applause to our budding filmmakers, who were nominated for ‘Best Film’ at the Children’s Internetional Film Festival. Following weeks of preparation and filming, the talented efforts of our pupils were recognised in a well deserved nomination. Our budding stars got to watch the announcement of the nominees and presentation of the awards at The White Rock theatre this week. What an amazing experience and achievement!

We are incredibly proud of all the wonderful opportunities our pupils have, allowing them to share their talents and shine ✨ 🩵

Week 2! 🙌🏼💙

This week our Year 1 pupils visited The White Rock Theatre to see The Lady in a Vinegar Bottle, a classic British folktale. The opportunity to see this wonderful musical performance was commissioned by Create Music and the children thoroughly enjoyed it.

Year 4 and 5 are loving their weekly swimming lessons at Rye Freedom Leisure. They will be gaining confidence and learning new skills in the water over the duration of their sessions. Our swimming offer this year has enabled all children in years 3 - 6 to have lessons which is so essential for us, living by the sea. 🌊

Year 6 have started reading through their end of year performance which is very exciting. There is a real buzz around the school as they discuss the parts they are auditioning for, the scripts, songs and dances. We can’t wait to watch them perform! 🎭

It’s been a wonderful sunny weekend. Let’s hope the sun continues to shine, especially for our sports days which start in a few weeks ☀️

Happy Sunday everyone 💙

Our Year 4 pupils visited the Congress Theatre in Eastbourne where they were treated to a performance by the London Philharmonic Orchestra. 🎶 🎵

This was an incredible, cultural experience which the children really enjoyed. To top it off, everyone represented our school beautifully and staff were exceptionally proud of them all ☺️

Thanks to Mr Newell for organising this wonderful opportunity 👏🏻

We have had a great first week of Term 6 and as always, it’s such a pleasure to see the children after a break.

Our chess team welcomed Sandown Primary School and The Baird Academy for some friendly games which were great to host. It’s wonderful to share our love of chess with local schools.

Pupils in Years 4 and 5 started their weekly swimming lessons at Rye Freedom Leisure which was a hit. By the end of term, all our children from years 3 - 6 will have taken part in swimming lessons this year. Living by the sea, and with the recent water tragedies recently, learning to swim is essential. We have been sharing water safety updates with the children as they start to spend more time at the beach in the better weather.

This term, everyone is being a Geographer as we focus on our local environment. The term is packed with opportunities to learn what’s on our doorstep and venture out for first hand experience. We have many exciting things coming up and lots to look forward to.

A great start everyone - well done! 👏🏻💙
