Happy Hastings Day! πŸŒΏβš”οΈ

960 years ago today, history was made on a hillside just outside our town, and Hastings has been making its own story ever since.

And what a year to be from Hastings. The Bayeux Tapestry, the Normans' own record of the battle, is back in England for the first time in over 900 years. 960 years on, everyone's still talking about us!

Everyone at Hastings Green Party wishes you a brilliant Hastings Day - thanks for everything you do that makes this town what it is. πŸ’š

πŸ’™ THANK YOU, HASTINGS πŸ’™

Over the past few weeks, our volunteer crew and fundraisers at Hastings RNLI have been overwhelmed by the kindness and support shown to us by our local community.

We simply wanted to say thank you.

Hastings has always been incredibly supportive of its lifeboat station, but the response over the past few weeks has meant a great deal to all of us.

Our volunteers are proud to be part of this community and proud to continue a lifesaving tradition in Hastings that stretches back generations.

To everyone who has donated, visited our shop, supported our fundraising, sent us a message or stopped one of our volunteers to say a few kind words:

Thank you, Hastings. Your support really does mean the world to us. πŸ’™

From everyone at Hastings RNLI Lifeboat Station

At Full Council on Wednesday 23 September, Hastings Borough Councillors voted to agree a motion by Cllr Danuta Kean supporting the work of the RNLI and Pett Level Independent Rescue Lifeboat rescuing those in the sea.

The motion also reiterated Hastings’ status as a town of refuge for all those who are rescued from drowning however they are in the water, in support of the work of the RNLI and Pett Level Independent Rescue Lifeboat in light of increasing attacks on lifeboat crews and their families over the rescue of drowning people attempting to cross the channel through people smugglers.

Cllr Glenn Haffenden, leader of Hastings Borough Council, said: "We are pleased to support the RNLI and Pett Level Independent Rescue Lifeboat who do a fantastic job of rescuing anyone who gets into danger in the sea. Hastings is proud to be a Community of Sanctuary and welcoming to anyone who arrives here, however they arrive."
