Were you there @ Beyond the Bayeux? 
The 1st ever in house theatre production .Castle on 12th Sept was a great success. 

A sold out show, Norman/English inspired BBQ, an introduction by a Bayeux Tapestry expert  , newly commissioned music and performances from  , and , story performed by  and  and spectacular animated projections by Phil Davies .png .

Join us on Saturday 26th for a bird watching and sound recording event in collaboration with XMTR FESTIVAL

Stellaria Media (Lucinda Guy & Alice Armstrong) and bird experts David Campbell and Tom Ensom will offer the chance to observe and record a special migration of birds over Hastings happening specifically on this day at this time.

You could see and hear Meadow Pipits, Swallows and House Martins and potentially Hobby, Kestrel, Grey Heron, Great Spotted Woodpecker, White Wagtail, Grey Wagtail, Tree Pipit, Linnet, Goldfinch, Chaffinch and Siskin. They will be just passing overhead. They all make distinctive flight calls as they go.

Participants are invited to build an audio work over three distinct sessions or just enjoy this rare bird migration moment.

Hastings Heritage Open Days is a celebration of the town’s rich history, culture, architecture and community spirit, inviting residents and visitors alike to explore some of Hastings’ most fascinating historic buildings, hidden spaces and local landmarks.

On Wednesday the 16th of September enjoy free entry to Hastings Castle all day. Our Education and Learning Lead, Urs will also be running history tours of the castle at 11am, 2pm and 4pm and will be on hand to answer any questions you have throughout the day.

This is a free event, no booking required!

Still not over last night…✨✨✨

Our first in house production at Hastings Castle, made possible by incredible performances from and Ellie Westbrook, wonderful music from musicians, Lucie Treacher Muco Tamar Osborn (aka Tamar Collocutor) with words from Dave Musgrove and directed by Cathy Brady. With brilliantly emotive animations from Battlecat Studios the tapestry truly came to life.

Thank you so much to our creative and commercial managers Ellie Westbrook and who took an impossible brief and made magic happen, writing and producing Beyond the Bayeux in just two months 🤯

Thank you also to our amazing on site and tech team for making sure everything run as smoothly as it did (we were a full house!). And thank you all who came and supported!

Introducing our first Hastings Castle zine 📖

While many of the team has been working hard on our upcoming Beyond the Bayeux production (this Saturday!!) our education lead, Urs has been researching and writing our first ever Hastings Castle zine!

Designed and published by Bracken Books • Publisher, Book Bindery & Print Studio based in The Yard at Waterworks Road it comes complete with a kiss cut sticker sheet featuring the seals of the counts of Eu and the collegiate Church of Hastings together in a paper bag printed with the first known seal of the Church of St. Mary in the Castle. Full of fascinating historical facts and titbits we will have a limited run of these available for purchase at Beyond the Bayeux this weekend 🏰
