Jack was severely damaged by Storm Henk in 2024. 🌪️

Part of the fanstage collapsed. One blade was thrown into a neighbouring field. The spindle bent and hung in a dangerous position.

Fallen pieces were recovered and secured. came to the rescue and a three-man team carefully stabilized the spindle and removed loose timbers so the cap could finally be lowered for major repairs.

The original plan was to restore Jack and Duncton before allowing the cap to turn to the wind again. The storm changed everything.

Now Phase I and Phase II must happen at the same time.

How do you turn a windmill into a home?

You layer it with upholstery, add a stove and sprinkle in every trinket you own.

A letter from September 1910 states that installing a stove may have invalidated the insurance.

Would you choose warmth or coverage?

Despite the recent restoration by previous owners and diligent greasing by friendly neighbours, the cap was seized in place, unable to face the weather and vulnerable to winter winds.

This reel shows initial optimism on a sunny day - but we were not victorious. A previous reel shows the consequences of those winter winds.

We now know better than to stand on the fan stage without proper protection.
