Harwich & District Community First Responders

Harwich & District Community First Responders Community First Responders are volunteers from their local community who are trained to respond to emergency calls in their local area.

Community First Responders are volunteers from their local community who are trained to respond to emergency calls in their local area through the 999 system in conjunction with the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST). Community First Responders are not a substitute for the ambulance. As we live within the community we are able to attend the scene of an emergency call in a very short time; o

ften within the first few minutes, and in the majority of cases, we are first on scene. Community First Responders are able to administer vital lifesaving first aid treatment before the arrival of an ambulance crew. Their early intervention further increases the patients chance of survival or may just provide the simple reassurance that the ambulance crew are on their way.

The Harwich First Responders would like to introduce 2 of our 3 new Community First Responders . Jade Devereaux and Jackie Hemmings. Both Jade and Jackie have had a shadow shift with team leaders Tony Johnson and Dayle Johnson and did really well. We would like to wish them all the best in their futures supporting our community.

What a cracking Christmas Dinner for our Harwich Community First Responders at the Royal Oak pub this evening. Andrea King and her crew looked after us brilliantly and the food, drink and company was awesome.

Looking forward to meeting new volunteers.
