The rain may have kept people away this morning at Nicholson Field, but it didn’t stop the two of us from filling eight bags of litter before we were eventually rained off too.
The car park at Dowson Road and the gate area at Speeding Drive are looking much better although we didn't get everything.
We’d love to see more people join us next time, so keep an eye out for details of the next litter pick. Every helping hand makes a difference in keeping our sites and town clean and tidy.

Following the success of our last litter pick at Nicholson Field and the positive difference it made to the site there will be another morning of action.
The well-used track attracts litter from people using it as a shortcut between Dowson Road and Speeding Drive, and we'd like to work together to help keep the area clean and tidy.
Join us from 9:00am on Friday 23 October, meeting at the Dowson Road car park, where we'll be litter picking along the lanes and surrounding areas of Nicholson Field Allotments.
Any help, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated, and it would be fantastic to see as many plot holders as possible getting involved.

He's been spotted enjoying life on a plot at Throston Allotments and seems to be having a great time there!

If you think he might be yours, please get in touch and we'll put you in contact with the tenant whose plot he's currently calling home.

Would you like to build your confidence, wellbeing and self-awareness, meet new people and explore what you might like to do next?
Our relaxed and supportive Growing Forward programme includes nature-based activities, mindfulness, simple wellbeing techniques, group discussions and practical activities.

Starts Thursday 29 October and every Thursday for 8 weeks.
10am–12 noon
CLIP Community Allotment, Hartlepool
Adults aged 19+
FREE

Everyone completing the programme will receive a Certificate of Achievement.

🌿 WILLIAMS DEN – DAY OF ACTION! 🌿

It’s nearly time to give Williams Den a little TLC and get it ready for the winter! 💚

📅 Wednesday 7th October
⏰ 10am – 1pm

We’re opening the gates and would love some extra pairs of hands. There’ll be plenty of jobs to get stuck into tidying, clearing, preparing areas and generally getting the Den looking its best.

You don’t need to be a gardener, DIY expert or regular volunteer, just bring yourself, some enthusiasm and, if you have them, a pair of gloves! 🧤

Every bit of help makes a difference, and it would be lovely to see some familiar and new faces. 💚

Raised beds area popular way to grow. By dividing a garden into manageable spaces they can make cultivation easier, improve accessibility and create growing areas full of goodness.

We've spotted some fantastic examples while carrying out our annual inspections and thought we'd share a few to inspire others.

What a Transformation

One of the slightly neglected plots, which had piles of rubbish when tenant took over, now has raised beds with plenty of produce growing, all in the space of 3 months.

Whilst undertaking the probation visit for this plot, the new tenant was on site. She stated that since she took over the tenancy, she goes down nearly every day, topping up her "free UK tan" since we have had such warm weather over the summer months.

She stated that it is "like going on holiday every day" and is a "different world" when she is there - enjoying life.

Well done on such a marvellous transformation.

The booking system for burning permits is now open and you can book permits from14th September. Please remember these rules around burning on your plot:
• No items should be brought onto plots specifically for burning.
• Remove/recycle rubbish rather than burning.
• Any necessary burning should be limited to small burning bins.
• Avoid burning materials that create smoke.
• Be mindful of weather conditions and neighbouring plots and properties.
• Only burn when others are not out enjoying the sunshine and good weather

Allotments are for gardening, not waste disposal!

One of the joys of visiting our allotments is spotting the wildlife that calls them home. Some creatures are far too quick for the camera, but every now and then one stays still long enough for a photo. 🦋🐝🌼
