Do you have a special educational need, disability or an EHCP plan? If so, come along to our Supported Internship stall at the NHS careers event hosted by the University Hospital Tees at the University Hospital of Hartlepool

Whether you aspire to work within in the NHS and would like to learn more about what is on offer or have other ideas for your next steps, come along and chat with the NHS Choices College staff.

We need Support Workers to work alongside our college team to ensure that learners with SEN are supported to learn to the best of their abilities in the classroom and in work placement.

PC Coggin and PC Mulligan attended a graduation ceremony at Choices College in Hartlepool in celebration of all the young interns and their achievements.

The interns have taken part in police interventions throughout the last term aimed at education, provision and safeguarding; alongside all their hard work towards gaining experience and qualifications in employability, English and maths.

It was a pleasure to see their achievements be recognised and we wish them all the best for the future! 😊

Fantastic news! 👏

🌟Success story from our 24-25 student!🌟

Scarlett began working with pupils with SEND at Discovery Special Academy as part of her supported internship placement with us at Choices. During this time, she discovered her passion for special education and chose to continue volunteering once a week after her placement ended to grow her skill set.
This experience has helped to build her confidence and develop key employability skills, including independent travel, teamwork and initiative.
Post graduating her internship; Choices College staff continued to still support Scarlett with exploring a teaching assistant career

We are so thrilled to announce that having successfully applied for a Learning Assistant apprenticeship, Scarlett will begin full-time employment at Discovery Special Academy this September.
Scarlett said, “I’ve really enjoyed my volunteering and have found it very rewarding. Seeing pupils make progress has been great and I’m proud to have been able to support them.”

⭐ We are delighted to announce that after two impressive interviews, our lovely intern, Dan has been offered paid employment with NTH Solutions Domestics Team, and will be picking up duties within the Porters department. 🥳

Unsure of where he wanted a work experience placement, Dan began his journey in the Porters department at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust in last October, where he very quickly fitted in to the team, grasping the routine of the job role in a very busy and fast paced environment. Not long into the first term, Dan asked if he could remain in Porters for the second term as he loved working there and can see his future working there.
Dan’s mentors and supervisors were very supportive and were thrilled to hear Dan wanted to continue.
Dan will continue to be supported by Choices College as he goes through the recruitment process.
We are very proud of you, Dan. Your hard work, lovely sense of humour, commitment, and determination to succeed has paid off. Well done!👏

We recently had the pleasure of meeting with Charlotte from Inspire in South Tyneside, who shared more about the fantastic work they do to support people across the local community.

What a lovely photo to end the term on!

Our brilliant intern, Luke is showing such positivity and enthusiasm for his new role at The Bread & Butter Thing Hartlepool Community Hubs Central.

Standing very proud manning the food bank stall, Luke has been supporting the team of volunteers to correctly organise and pack shopping bags ready for the local community to purchase. Luke is demonstrating excellent organisation skills, he shows great attention to detail, continues to develop his communication and customer service skills and is developing his team working skills while learning new skills at in such a fast paced role!

Great job Luke!
