The thought of International Firefighter's day, may make some cringe, some see it as nothing more than an ego trip. Well yes! Much I see makes me feel uncomfortable. BUT!! Nobody gave any of us the title Fireman-Firefighter, we earned it.

Many made the ultimate sacrifice, and many still are. Cancers at the top of the list, daily taking the lives of those whose role was one of saving that of others.

So for one day a year, I'm going to just accept that even Firemen - Firefighters can have their day!

Today we join fire services across the world in marking Firefighters Memorial Day.
We will be observing a minute’s silence at midday to remember those who have lost their lives in the line of duty, to recognise the courage and commitment of firefighters globally and to reflect on the sacrifices made serving our communities.
