Another massive tree lost on the Estate today. A beech probably dating back to when the Estate was laid out. 119 years then gone in less than a days work. Questions are being asked as to the reasons for its removal in an area covered by a TPO.

We're concerned about the planned road narrowing measures for Ravenhurst Road. The road is wide so creating a crossing point is a sound idea but the proposed scheme is excessive and could be accomplished in a far more simple way with plenty of examples of how it has been achieved elsewhere. We understand someone has raised a petition against it but we don't know who or on what basis.
There will be considerable loss of parking which will impact on other roads as well as loss of the original kerbstones. In the past when we have had larger vehicles such as coaches and mini buses visit Moor Pool they have parked here. When questioned one of our Councillors did not know anything about it and the other did not reply.

This is a great article that sums up how Councils are treating our cities and towns all over the country and in particular our heritage. Its quite a long article but well worth the read.
Letting historic lamp posts decay shows a growing lack of pride in our country

From rusting lamp posts to patchy pavements, the era of ‘austerity’ is eroding our sense of identity and civic pride

The Moor Pool is looking the lowest I have ever seen it. Maybe an opportunity to do some silt removal?

Just tidying up our New World gas cooker which has given us 44 years service and many years before that to the previous owner of the property. Only taken out of service because of the kitchen refit and no way the replacement will last as long. Whole thing comes apart if needed. Did anyone else have one of these cookers or similar?
Update.
Our loyal cooker has gone to start a new life in Nottingham with a lady who wanted a vintage cooker. Heres hoping it gives many more years service. Sad to see it go after all this time.
