We're looking forward to hearing the response of the executive this month.

At the last full council meeting Reform UK - Burnley brought a motion forward on behalf of residents to bring immediate Article 4 planning directive.

Cllr Howard Baker, Liberal Democrat member of the Executive has stated that they want to put forward a consultation which could take 12 months!!

Well, Cllr Baker, get out, speak to residents and get to grips with what people want.

🚛 Waste Collection Update

Worsthorne and Hurstwood ♻️

I have been notified that multiple streets in and around Worsthorne and Hurstwood did not have their waste collected yesterday due to a vehicle issue.

The crews are planning to return to collect the missed bins so please leave waste out to be collected.

If this doesn't happen, then please notify myself, another ward Cllr so we can follow up 👍

I’ve had a number of exchanges with Cllr Shah Hussain during my relatively short time as a councillor.

This falls well below what the public should expect from elected representatives.

I hope Cllr Hussain takes some time to reflect on his behaviours, and the responsibilities that come with public office while he is swinging his litter picker around with other like minded people.

It also raises the question of his consistency, hypocrisy and poor character, given he previously voted for a motion promoting civility in public life.

Elected representatives need to uphold the same standards they expect from others. If they can’t or won’t do that, they should seriously consider whether it’s appropriate for them to remain in public office or resign.

I will certainly not be taking any lectures from Cllr Hussain on civility now or in the future.

I pray he can be rehabilitated.

On this day 81 years ago Victory in Japan day was commemorated, effectively ending the Second World War.

Europe had celebrated months earlier, while British, Commonwealth and Allied Forces in the Far East continued the fight, suffering terrible losses. After almost six years of the most destructive war in history, peace could at last be celebrated, and preparations made to return home, with Allied prisoners of war liberated and repatriated after their appalling experiences.

Join us in remembering the service and sacrifice of all involved in the Far East, without whom the freedoms we enjoy today would not have been possible.

We will remember them.
