Notice from The Royal International Air Tattoo that this years show has been cancelled.
22/05/2026

Notice from The Royal International Air Tattoo that this years show has been cancelled.

We’re very sorry to let you know RIAT will not be taking place this year.

We know how much the event means to so many of you—our visitors, volunteers, partners, and the wider RIAT community. We fully recognise how disappointing this news will be.

The whole team at Douglas Bader House, and across the wider organisation, has worked tirelessly over the past 10 months to bring this year’s show to life. We have had to take this difficult decision following extensive discussions with the Royal Air Force and the United States Air Force regarding uncertainty over access to RAF Fairford, given the ongoing situation in the Middle East.

We’ll be in touch again by the end of May with details regarding your RIAT26 tickets. At that point you will be offered three options:

· Roll over your tickets to RIAT27
· Request a full refund
· Donate the value of your ticket to the RAF Charitable Trust

In the meantime, you can find further information and updates on our website and FAQs page: https://www.airtattoo.com/

Thank you for your loyalty and ongoing support as a member of the RIAT community. It genuinely means a great deal to us.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2027.

You may have seen a road closure notice which states that Queens Road between Skinner’s Close and Nell Hill is due to be closed from 8 June as part of Thames Waters works to replace the mains pipework through the village.

We have contacted Thames Water, and they have advised that the closure is being planned from around the 22 July 2026, which will be during the school holidays. The road will be closed between Skinner’s Close and the Jolly Tar. Where it is possible to do so, access to properties within the closed section will be allowed, though you may have to liaise directly with the workman during the works to arrange this. Thames Water will be confirming the exact closure date once approved.

From around 15 June 2026 (the final date is still to be confirmed) there will be give and take traffic control near the entrance to Skinner's Close as they feed the new pipework up the road. There may be an impact on some of the parking at the entrance to the road. If parking is affected, please park in a sensible location which does not block the road or any property access, and try to avoid parking on grassed areas to prevent damage to the ground and to allow the grass cutting to continue.

A MESSAGE FROM THE ORGANISERS OF THE OPEN GARDEN REFRESHMENTS.

It’s that time of year again! The Open Gardens is happening on Sunday 7th June, and we’ll be running tea and cakes in the village hall.

In previous years, Karen, Ali and I have spent the whole day there, with just a handful of helpers - so this year, we’re really hoping to share the load a bit more… and hopefully to also find a willing volunteer to hand the baton of organising it for next year!

We’re looking for volunteers to help with:

🍰 Serving cake
💷 Taking money
☕️ Making teas
🧼 Washing up

There are three shifts to choose from:

10am–12pm
12pm–2pm
2pm–4pm

We’ll take care of set-up, clear-up and be there all day.

If you’re able to help, please message me directly with:

Your preferred time slot and what you'd be happy to help with.

Also, as ever, we’ll need plenty of cakes!

If you’re happy to bake something, please let me know what you’ll be making (sponges are always very popular!).

All proceeds go towards the upkeep of the village hall - we raise around £1000 each year, so it’s a lovely cause as well as a lovely day.

Thank you so much in advance!

Becci, Karen and Ali

Please contact the PC for the contact email of the organisers.
