๐Ÿš€ T-minus one month until Fundraising Fortnight 2026, and what a start we've had already! ๐Ÿš€

With exactly a month to go before we officially begin, we have been blown away by the support from our students, families and wider community. The enthusiasm for this year's campaign has been truly incredible, and we are so grateful.

Fundraising Fortnight is a real team effort, with our entire school coming together to deliver a range of fantastic events while also taking on fundraising challenges of their own outside of school.

We're delighted to see students already creating their own fundraising pages and getting a head start on this year's campaign, and we've had a fantastic response to sponsorship opportunities for both our Colour Run and Student Marketplace. We can't wait to introduce our generous sponsors very soon.

For those who are unfamiliar, Fundraising Fortnight is Crossley Heath's annual fundraising mission, with all money raised being shared between our three chosen charities and our school. This year, the school's share will contribute towards our new 2G pitch project, creating a lasting legacy for both our students and the wider Halifax community.

We are delighted to introduce Annie as Bruce in this yearโ€™s school production of Matilda Junior!

Annie brings an incredible amount of talent to the role, having enjoyed a fantastic year in performance. She won her Classical Singing Class for both Years 6 and 7, before going on to win the prestigious Winners Challenge against performers from other age categories.

She also achieved second place in both Musical Theatre and Unaccompanied Folk Song, and was invited to perform at the final day concert at Huddersfield Town Hall, an honour reserved for some of the festivalโ€™s most promising young performers.

๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ช Year 10 Battlefields Trip โ€“ Lest We Forget ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท

The third of our Year 10 trips is now underway as students have set off on their Battlefields Trip, beginning an unforgettable journey through some of the most significant sites of the First World War.

After an early start, students travelled across to France and checked in at Poppies Albert Hostel in the Somme region, ready for an action-packed few days of historical exploration.

Today, students have visited some incredibly important sites including La Boisselle Crater, the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme, Newfoundland Park, preserved battlefields and trenches, Railway Hollow, Vimy Ridge and Notre Dame de Lorette French National Cemetery, before continuing on to Belgium.

This trip provides a powerful opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of history beyond the classroom, reflecting on the sacrifices made and bringing their learning to life through first-hand experiences.

We look forward to sharing more updates as the trip continues ๐Ÿ’œ๐ŸŒบ

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡นโ˜€๏ธ Year 10 Rome Trip โ€“ Arrivederci Adventure! โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

The second of our three Year 10 trips is underway, with students arriving safely in Rome and already experiencing some of the cityโ€™s incredible history, culture and atmosphere.

After an early 4am start, students arrived in Rome, checked into their hostel and headed straight out on a walking tour, taking in some of the cityโ€™s most iconic sights including the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon, before enjoying dinner together at Mercato Hostaria.

Day two continued the adventure with more exploring around Romeโ€™s famous piazzas and surrounding areas, alongside the spectacular Frecce Tricolori flyover and Republic Day parade celebrations. Students then stepped back in time with visits to the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill and, of course, the world-famous Colosseum.

It has been fantastic to see students embracing every opportunity, immersing themselves in Roman history and culture and creating memories that will last a lifetime. We canโ€™t wait to see what the rest of the trip brings! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ›๏ธ๐Ÿ•

โ„๏ธ๏ธ Year 10 Iceland Trip โ€“ Adventure Well Underway! โ„๏ธ

The first of our three Year 10 trips has begun, and what a start it has been in Iceland!

After an early start, students arrived safely and got straight into exploring some of Icelandโ€™s incredible geography, visiting the geothermal hot springs at Gunnuhver, crossing the bridge between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, and seeing the cooling lava fields around Grindavรญk. The day finished with a well-earned swim in the hotel pool.

Day two brought even more adventure, beginning with an unforgettable walk on Sรณlheimajรถkull glacier before visiting the spectacular waterfalls Skรณgafoss and Seljalandsfoss, where waterproofs definitely proved useful! Students also explored the fascinating exhibits at the Lava Centre before ending another busy day with dinner and a swim.

Itโ€™s been fantastic to see our Year 10 students embracing every opportunity and making memories that will last a lifetime. We canโ€™t wait to see what the rest of the trip brings! ๐Ÿ’œ๐ŸŒ‹๐ŸŒ

One of the most wonderful features of Crossley Heath is our warm, vibrant school culture, with a rich diversity of students from all backgrounds.

This new photograph showcases just some of the many cultures, nationalities, faiths, backgrounds and identities that make up our school family.

As an inclusive school, our values of kindness, courage and excellence are at the heart of everything we do. We believe every student should feel welcomed, respected and empowered to be themselves, while learning from the experiences and perspectives of others.

We are proud to be a community where diversity is celebrated, potential is unlocked and everyone belongs. ๐Ÿ’™

A huge congratulations to Crossley Heath alumnus Max Burgin on his incredible performance this weekend, defeating the reigning Olympic Champion in the 800m.

Max's success is a testament to the talent, resilience and dedication required to compete at the very highest level of sport, and we're immensely proud to call him one of our former pupils.

Achievements like this make us even more excited for the launch of our Sporting Excellence Programme this September. We're delighted that Max will be among a number of our accomplished sporting alumni sharing their experiences and insights with the next generation of Crossley Heath athletes.

We can't wait to see the impact these role models will have on our students as they pursue their own sporting ambitions.

Congratulations, Max! ๐Ÿ’™

The start of a new half term on Monday can only mean one thing โ€“ we're edging ever closer to Fundraising Fortnight 2026! ๐ŸŽ‰

Before we look ahead, we wanted to reflect on the incredible impact we made together last year. In just 10 school days, the generosity, enthusiasm and creativity of our students, staff, families and wider school community helped us raise over ยฃ10,000.

We had the privilege of supporting four fantastic charities, while also placing the remaining funds into our own school hardship fund, helping those in our school family when they need it most.

From our Colour Run and bonkers yet brilliant student marketplace, to the wonderfully creative independent fundraising organised by our students - Fundraising Fortnight 2025 made an impact that extended far beyond the school gates, supporting organisations carrying out truly life-changing work across Calderdale.

Now, we're looking ahead - we've got big ambitions and exciting plans to make Fundraising Fortnight 2026 our biggest and best yet, while helping our students develop a compassion for helping others that they carry for life.
