Based at Todmorden Market, you’ll be a visible, supportive presence on market days, helping stallholders, coordinating operations and ensuring our markets offer a welcoming experience for all.

• Overseeing day‑to‑day market operations
• Ensuring compliance with market rules and health & safety
• Allocating pitches and supporting trader set‑up
• Handling enquiries and maintaining strong relationships

Continuing our Mums of the Market spotlight for Mother’s Day this Sunday - meet Mercedes and her mum, Jane 💕

Mercedes opened her first stall, Cheese and thank you, inside Todmorden Market back in January 2024, bringing us delicious fresh cakes including cheesecakes, carrot cake, brownies and more.

Just one year later, she expanded with Meat in the middle, serving hearty homemade hot food such as pies, toasties, soups and other comforting favourites.

You’ll find Mercedes inside the market with her mum Jane proudly helping out. A wonderful family team at the heart of our market community!

Mums of the Market – Meet Julie and Jemma at The Sewing Box Halifax Borough Market!

To mark Mother’s Day next week, we’re celebrating the amazing Mums of the Market - the women who keep Calderdale Markets thriving with their hard work, heart and dedication.

Today, we’re spotlighting Jemma and her mum, Julie, who run their long‑standing family business together. Julie started working at The Sewing Box 40 years ago and took over in 2003. Jemma started 6 years ago and they have been partners ever since.

💬 What’s it like being a mum who owns a business?
Julie: “It's great, I can work when I want and take my holidays when I want.”
💐 What do you want for Mother’s Day?
Julie: “A bunch of flowers.”
