We are delighted to host the SEND-friendly performance of "The Librarians"!
There will be two opportunities for families to experience this magical free show:
King Cross Library - Thursday 4th June, 4pm
Elland Library - Saturday 6th June, 11am

"The Librarians" is a fun and engaging theatre show aimed at children aged 4- 9, celebrating imagination, storytelling and a love of reading. The session will include a 30-minute interactive performance followed by a creative workshop where children can develop and share their own stories alongside the characters.

This performance is open to all and has been carefully planned with SEND audiences in mind. It is designed to be inclusive and accessible, featuring BSL as well as spoken English. We can also provide an autism friendly information pack if required.

This May half term, we are teaming up with Imagination Gaming who are popping up in Central Library and Archives in Halifax with an exciting selection of board games!

From 10am-1pm on Tuesday 26th May come and try out a wide range of games - from classic favourites to new & exciting adventures, there will be something for everyone!

No booking required, feel free to drop in and play throughout the session. Open to all ages.

Together with the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), DfE has published new resources on the ‘Kids online safety’ website to help parents and carers understand and get support dealing with online misogyny. This new section is designed to help families and give them more confidence in talking to their children about what they’re doing and experiencing online.
The updated content includes:
• what misogyny is
• why you should talk to your child about misogyny
• spotting the signs of misogyny
• how you can support your son or daughter.

Find out the steps you can take to keep your child safe online. Get practical and trusted information to help you feel more confident.

May half term is fast approaching, and Calderdale Libraries have got a fantastic line-up of stories and activities planned! 📚✨
This year’s Children’s Picture Book of the Year nominees were such a hit with Calderdale school children that they’ve created some fun crafts inspired by some of the stories. 🎨

Togetherness – Online Learning pathways for parent, carers, grandparents, and young people.

Calderdale Family Hubs have funded a multi-user licence for the Solihull Approach; this forms the foundation of our online offer to parents and carers. These learning pathways are available to all Calderdale residents, as well as those living outside the area who care for a Calderdale child under a legal order. Once registered, you will access to a range of learning pathways, including:
• Understanding pregnancy, labour and birth
• Understanding your baby
• Understanding your child with additional needs
• Understanding your child: from toddler to teenager
• Understanding the teenage brain.
• Understanding your brain (for teenagers only)
