It was a pleasure for the Mayor and Mayoress of Calderdale to attend the Mytholmroyd St Michael’s Amateurs’ production of The Addams Family Musical this week. The level of talent, creativity, and dedication on display was truly exceptional. From the impressive set design and lighting to the superb performances and musicianship, the entire production was a credit to our local arts community. Congratulations to everyone involved on a fantastic show.

The Mayor of Calderdale, Cllr Andrew Tagg attended the Apna Hub at the Hanson Lane Enterprise Centre. This was to celebrate a national award "MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT, professional excellence award to the Halifax Opportunities Trust - Calderdale Cancer Aware.
The event was extremely well attended with several speeches on the roles performed. The Mayor was very impressed with the work undertaken by all who attended. The presentations on show provided information on how important addressing cancer awareness is.
Refreshments were provided and the Mayor cut the cake.

The Mayor of Calderdale attended St Paul's Methodist Church in Sowerby Bridge for the 10th Birthday Party Celebration of the Memory Lane Cafe.
The Memory Lane Cafe is a registered charity (Memory Lane Cafe Calderdale) designed to provide a welcoming, dementia-friendly environment for people affected by dementia, memory problems, and social isolation.
Its primary purpose is to tackle loneliness and promote social inclusion within the Calderdale community. The cafes serve as social hubs where individuals—including those living with dementia, their carers, family members, and friends—can meet, socialize, and receive support.

The event was extremely well attended with live music, refreshments and a friendly atmosphere.

The Mayor conducted a speech which was well received.

The Mayor of Calderdale was invited to attended the Inspire College at Calderdale College for the DFN Project Search Jobs Fair.
The DFN Project Search is a supported internship based at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust. The project is partnered with Calderdale College, Calderdale Council and CHFT and work to support young adults, 18-25yrs old with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) find meaningful paid employment. Students presented their work and explained to the Mayor what they had been learning during the course of the year.

Calderdale welcomed The Yorkshire Regiment for a Freedom Parade and Service on its 20th Anniversary. They convened at the Town Hall, marched through the town centre led by the Regimental Band to the Dukes Memorial. There were speeches by Lord Lieutenant Adeeba Malik- the King's representative, Lieutenant General Zak Stenning- Commander of Ground Forces and our Mayor Andrew Tagg and the troops were inspected. They then marched down to the Minster for a service before a reception at the Town Hall.
Crowds turned out for the spectacle and applauded the troops as they passed by.

Following the Annual Council Meeting at Halifax Town Hall, the new Mayor of Calderdale is Cllr Andrew Tagg and his Mayoress Jackie Tagg.

Deputy Mayor is Cllr Jackie Wilson.

The Mayor, Andrew Tagg hosted the Halifax Civic Trust AGM at Halifax Town Hall. He chaired the well attended meeting and presented Awards to the Civic Trust Award winners; which were the Lloyds Building renovations and the Halifax Borough Markets renovations. The guest speaker was Aaron Casserly Stewart who is Director of Events at the Piece Hall. He went through the History of the building, his role and the vision for the future. He plays a large part in getting the 42 Concerts there this year. The Civic Trust were keen to expand their followers and welcome new members.

The Mayor Andrew Tagg and his Mayoress Jackie were invited to start the Sight Support Calderdale 50km Charity Run; being carried out by Damien McCallum who has sight impediment; which obviously made the event much more challenging.
He was to run 26 laps of Ogden Water and was encouraged on his departure by the Mayor.

The Mayor Cllr Andrew Tagg and his Mayoress Jackie attended the CFFC (Community Foundation For Calderdale) Community Spirit Awards Ceremony held at The Venue, Barkisland.
Also in attendance was the Foundation President Lord Lieutenant Professor Adeeba Malik CBE, several of her Deputy Lieutenants from the Calderdale area, Lady Shutt along with many donors and Charities and Individuals nominated for Awards.
It was a rewarding evening, with many tales of volunteering, charity and good work going on within Calderdale. The Charity gives out over £2M each year to local causes.
Among the Winners was Hazel Brindle from Sowerby Bridge who was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for her years of helping people with a special focus on the Homeless.
