It was a pleasure for the Mayor of Calderdale to attend the Annual General Meeting of Calderdale Interfaith, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Laturday Saints, Stafford Road, Halifax. It is a long standing tradition for the Mayor to chair this important gathering and lead discussions with such a dedicated group of community and faith leaders. Thank you to all who attended for a wonderful, constructive evening celebrating and supporting our diverse community across Calderdale.

It was an absolute pleasure today to unveil a Halifax Civic Trust blue plaque recognizing a true Halifax institution: The Acapulco Club!
​Affectionately known to generations as simply "The Acca," this iconic venue first opened its doors in 1961, founded by Ted Turczak and his wife. Today, it stands proudly as the oldest continuously operating nightclub in the United Kingdom—operating under the same name and in the same location since day one!
​From the Turczak family running it for decades, to Simon Jackson (who started as a DJ in the 80s) taking over the business in 1995, The Acca's history is deeply woven into the fabric of our town. It has never felt the need to change who it is, retaining its distinctive character, retro carpet, and unmatched community spirit.

The Mayor attended the People's Park Festival organised by the Culturedale staff.
It is the third year it has been run; after a 12 year break. It is aimed as a celebration of community and culture in the Park ward and to follow Sir Frank Crossley's initial vision.
Lots of organisations were represented and many people went to enjoy themselves.

The Deputy Mayor of Calderdale attended the Annual General Meeting of West Yorkshire Scouts at Bradley Wood Scout Campsite in Brighouse.
It was fantastic to hear about the wonderful work and celebrate the achievements of the past year. It was a wonderful evening and also well attended. Refreshments were provided.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Calderdale attended the Army Reserve Centre, Huddersfield for the Lord Lieutenant's presentation ceremony. They were in the company of other dignitaries from across the region. The event provided an opportunity to learn about the training and development undertaken by reserves and cadets across the region, while recognising the outstanding achievements of this year's awards recipients. Refreshments were provided. It was a special evening for all who attended.

The mayor and mayoress were delighted to attend Harvey's of Halifax to officially cut the ribbon and open their fantastic new departments. It was a pleasure to meet the team, explore the beautiful refreshed spaces - featuring everything from beautiful gifts to stylish new clothing lines and celebrate another fantastic independent business. The mayor and mayoress took the time to speak with staff and customers alike. The visit took in refreshments in the customer restaurant where they took the time to speak with diner's.

The Mayor and Mayoress visited the 50th Rushbearing Closing Ceremonies at Ripponden. They walked from the Boundary to St Bartholomew's Church where the Rushcart charges down the slope, through the gates to the Church steps. There a blessing Service is held, with rushes gifted to the Church; before the street party continues with Morris Dancers and music.
