Grey skies didn’t stop the team delivering surveys and petitions across Bassnage Road tonight.

We are gathering evidence directly from residents to challenge claims that speeding and anti-social driving are not significant issues in our area.

The more responses and signatures we receive, the stronger our case for action will be.

If you live on Bassnage Road, Huntingtree Road, Rosemary Road, Lansdowne Road or Dunstall Road, please look out for your survey. Surrounding roads will be added shortly.

Your local Conservatives—working on local issues all year round, not just at election time.

BLAKEDOWN ROAD SINKHOLE UPDATE

Following my escalation to Severn Trent, they have confirmed that an excavation repair to address the sinkhole outside 105 Blakedown Road, Halesowen, has now been booked for 12 October 2026.

The issue has been outstanding for far too long, with temporary barriers in place for many months, so I am pleased that we now have a firm date for the work.

I will continue to monitor the situation, address the failures that allowed it to remain unresolved for so long, and keep residents updated.

Sinkhole Blakedown Road, Halesowen.

Severn Trent have accepted responsibility for this repair and have failed to deal with it for over 12 months now. I have escalated this with Severn Trent at a senior level and complained on behalf of residents. The work is booked for October although I am attempting to bring this forward.

For clarity this location is in Hayley Green and I will continue to follow this up.

Any other claims to have instigated this from elected members outside of our area should be viewed with doubt.

Lovely summers day for a Bowls competition at the park. Semi final well under way. These players make it look so easy. Good to catch up with the Friends of Huntingtree Park who are hosting the event.

I spoke to South Staffs Water as promised and they advised someone was on the way. Thanks for the photo and for continuing to keep me updated.

It’s bad enough we’ve had Cadent leaving grass verges in a poor state after works; now we have South Staffs Water leaving tools protruding from the pavement, despite repeated reports from residents.

I’m pleased they’ve finally attended and have dealt with it, although it’s disappointing that it took multiple reports and the issue still couldn’t be resolved immediately. Hopefully replacing the cover will put an end to it.

Thank you to everyone who reported this and helped ensure it was made safe.

Ian.
