AY66 ZTF has worked her socks off these last couple of weeks, consuming upwards of £1000 in diesel. Tonight she’s got naked and had a well earned pampa session. Ready to go again when needed.🚒🚒

So august has continued where July left off. So far we have attended 18 calls. We have done in excess of 65 hours at the major incident at Dunwich mostly at night as well doing our day jobs. It’s tough and we’re all tired and a bit grumpy but it’s very unusual and we look forward to things getting back to normal and a good nights sleep.

That’s 35 calls in 31 days. We went to Dunwich 3 times, each for more than 10 hours. Some of the crew haven’t slept in their bed for more than 4 or 5 hours since last Tuesday. Obviously this is not the norm but we are prepared to dig deep when we need to. We’ve had unbelievable support from the Salvation Army, the Rapid Relief Team feeding and keeping us hydrated, many other brigades from across the country that have sent assets and fire engines to assist us during this unprecedented event. Leaving the incident on Friday night and being cheered and clapped by the local community was very humbling, but very much appreciated. None of the above would be possible without the support of our family and employers who release local on call firefighters across the county.

After a busy day yesterday which started at 4.15am and finished at 1.00am this morning, we were called at 5.15am to a relief at a major incident at RSPB Minsmere. Going to be a long day.🚒🚒🚒

Well that was a long day. Called this morning at 9.45 to smoke seen in ufford, got most of the way there when the stop went in. We then got sent to standby at Princes Street for a few hours. We then got tipped on to a relief at hollesley and got back at 18.30. That’s enough one day, but if we have to go again we’ll be up for it.🚒🚒

This evening we assisted a family that were stuck down a single track road by flood water. The crew only got a general postcode but due to previous incidents we guessed were we needed to go. Please please get the what 3 words app on your phones. This app places your position in a 3 meter square anywhere. If you pass the three words to our control we can find you as quickly as possible.
