EDP interview was given by Stopit2 committee member which was unfortunately slightly misquoted.
This was what was said:
To say that we were devastated would be an understatement. A miserable Christmas gift.
Throughout this process key times to act seem always to end up occurring just before this festive time of year.
This time we have waited for the inspectors report since July when it was supposed to arrive.
We do not feel our concerns were properly addressed. The report seems dismissive of them. But we know that understanding of what industrial process impact on wellbeing are developing, but legislation does not keep up. The democraticly elected councillors on NCC planning committee fully comprehend this when they unanimously rejected the proposal in the first place.
Sadly planning legislation seems unfit for purpose and not responsive to whole community needs. Other sites away from people were a possible alternative as our local MP pointed out at the appeal hearing.
We of course will be taking a keen interest in the everyday work going forward and will take close note of the sites adherence to the conditions of the planning agreement, because our concerns for the wellbeing of our neighbours and loved ones have not changed.
We are worried too about the accumulated impact on traffic that more lorries on that stretch of a feeder road to the village main street will make.
Perhaps as a kindness to the village the company would discuss with the landowner a creation of a footpath from Rectory Road to the village playground so our children there can at least navigate their way without crossing and then re crossing that busy junction.
While our village remains saddened our spirit is forever strong. Stoppit remains proud of how the whole village pulled together to attend all fund raising events to raise the money to fight the application. We know that if democratically elected representatives were listened to, the planning application would be not have been agreed.
