It was a pleasure to pay a visit to the amazing Lucy Faithfull Foundation who are based in last week.

Our office provides funding to help some of the truly life-changing work they do to stop child sexual abuse before it happens.

They protect children by working with people who pose a risk and diverting them from causing harm while also supporting families affected by by abuse.

Lisa Townsend PCC caught up with the team to hear about the recent work they’ve been doing with young people and schools, their engagement with online platforms and the progress of the ‘Stop It Now’ helpline.

You can learn more about the vital work they do here: https://www.lucyfaithfull.org.uk/

👮‍♀️👮 In the last year, Surrey Police officers have dedicated almost 13,000 hours to people detained under Section 136 (S136) of the Mental Health Act - this is a specific provision to support those in our communities with a mental health disorder and require immediate care or control for the protection of the individual or others. The use of S136 has increased for the last three consecutive years.

🎙️ Commissioner, Lisa Townsend PCC talked with BBC Radio 5 live's Stephen Nolan over the weekend about the increasing pressures on police officers to take on roles of healthcare professionals and social workers to support vulnerable individuals.
