πŸš”πŸŒΏ This BMW caught the attention of officers... for more than one reason.

When the vehicle was stopped in πŸ“Clandon, officers quickly discovered it wasn't in a roadworthy condition.

πŸ”§ The front bumper was hanging off πŸ’‘ A light cluster was partially detached ⚠️ Parts of the vehicle were at risk of coming away completely.

As officers spoke with the driver, further concerns were raised.

A roadside drugs test returned a positive result for cannabis. 🌿

πŸš” Driver arrested

Vehicle defects might seem like "just cosmetic damage", but when parts are at risk of detaching, they can create a serious hazard for everyone using the road.

Add drug driving into the mix, and it's a combination officers won't ignore.

And it seems the exhaust wasn't the only thing missing...

Checks revealed the driver had also forgotten about:

❌ A valid MOT

When the vehicle was stopped, officers discovered the driver was travelling with his 6-year-old granddaughter in the car while driving her home to Surrey.

Roadside tests revealed:

🍺 Positive breath test: 48μg 🌿 Positive roadside drugs test for cannabis

The outcome:

🀝 Social Services informed

Driving under the influence of drink or drugs is dangerous at any time. Doing so with a child in the vehicle makes the decision even more concerning.

This BMW was stopped after officers discovered it had:

❌ No insurance
❌ No tax

The driver described himself as a motor trader and told officers he'd just been out taking photos of the vehicle ready to sell it.

There was just one problem... he didn't have a valid trade insurance policy and hadn't insured the BMW either. πŸ‘€

The outcome?

πŸš— Vehicle seized
πŸ“‹ Traffic Offence Report issued

Instead of advertising the car for sale, the driver will now be arranging to collect it from the recovery yard... and paying the fees that come with it.

Insurance and tax aren't optional, whether you're a private motorist or in the motor trade.

Travelling along πŸ“Chobham Road, Ottershaw, this BMW driver appeared keen to create some distance between himself and a vehicle.

It didn't work.

When the blue lights came on, he decided it was time to stop.

Officers immediately noticed a strong smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle. The driver admitted he'd smoked cannabis earlier in the day and then returned a positive roadside Drug Wipe.

A search of the vehicle also located cannabis. 🌿

As if that wasn't enough, the driver is already under investigation by Thames Valley Police for a separate drug-driving matter from earlier this year.

But wait...

πŸ“… The next day, officers carried out further checks on the vehicle's insurance.

Those checks showed the driver's temporary insurance policy had been taken out exactly one minute after he first drove past the police car.

Unfortunately for him, insurance doesn't work retrospectively.

πŸš” Members of the public reported three teenagers allegedly driving this car around a residential estate at speed, doing repeated laps of the area. πŸ‘€

A short time later, officers located the vehicle on the same estate and stopped it.

Checks revealed the 19-year-old driver:

❌ Held only a provisional driving licence
❌ Had no insurance
❌ Was not wearing a seatbelt

The driver told officers he had bought the car earlier that day.

Further enquiries showed he was already on bail for offences including dangerous driving, drug driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance following a police pursuit earlier this year.

The conditions of his bail included: 🚫 Not being in a motor vehicle unless the driver was insured 🚫 Not being in the front seats of a motor vehicle

By getting behind the wheel, he breached both conditions.

The outcome?

πŸš” Driver arrested and remanded to court
πŸš— Vehicle seized

Thanks to the information provided by local residents and the quick response from officers, this vehicle was taken off the road before anyone was injured.
