πŸ“Έ Then & Now: Grimsby's Flyover

It's back in the headlines this week thanks to the debate over the artificial flowers in the planter tubs, but did you know Grimsby's flyover has been making news for more than 50 years?

These fascinating archive photographs show the flyover taking shape in the late 1960s, from giant concrete beams being lifted into place to the official opening of what was then hailed as a symbol of a modern Grimsby.

Over the decades it has sparked discussions about traffic, regeneration, repairs, town centre development and now... flowers! 🌸

Love it or hate it, the flyover remains one of Grimsby's most recognisable landmarks and a reminder of how dramatically the town centre has changed.

Ship mates ahoy! βš“ Our very special Boogie, Books and a Brew group entertained us with their show Shanties & Sails this afternoon at Grimsby Auditorium.

Sea shanties, songs and dances were met with laughter and applause, as the group retold stories of our fishing heritage 🐟🎣

"We loved the singing and the retelling of history of Grimsby and Hull" Julie

"Lots of research had clearly gone into the performance - my father was a trawlerman and minesweeper in the war - we loved that this part of history was highlighted" Evie, Jackie and Davie.

"We loved the music, props and acoustics" Sue and Luke

Big well done to the group and thank you to everyone who joined us πŸ‘πŸ‘ More photos and videos to follow...

Bookworms on the Loose!

Our Bookworms are turning up everywhere!

This week, Lou from the Lincs Inspire Auditorium was spotted enjoying Fifty Fifty under the shade of a tree on a beautiful summer day. Proof that all you need for a great adventure is a good book and a comfy spot to read.

Keep your eyes peeled for next week's Bookworm!
