🚨Great Yarmouth Conservatives tell the Government to ram it.
The Labour Government’s new mandatory housing targets would mean a nearly 40% increase for Great Yarmouth, taking the total close to nearly 10,000 extra homes - something totally unachievable.
It's interesting that many Labour constituencies have seen a far less increase or none at all!
They want us to pick up the tab. With no infrastructure and no better link up with government departments to help.
We are not against new homes. Not at all. That's what separates us from others. Local families, young people and those wanting to stay in our borough need somewhere to live. We fully back the Borough Council's emerging Local Plan. We just can't accept a 40% increase on top pushed on residents.
But growth must be fair, realistic and backed by proper infrastructure.
