It’s so sad to hear of local businesses currently closing due to fear of trouble from the latest traveller encroachment currently in town.

We have a plan to toughen the law so that they would already be gone.

If you or I broke onto someone’s land and refused to leave, we’d expect the law to act. The same rules should apply to everyone.

A future Conservative Government would give councils and the police stronger powers to tackle unauthorised encampments immediately.

What would that mean for Great Yarmouth?

No more lengthy delays while landowners and authorities struggle through the process.

If you’ve broken the law and have no right to be there, you leave. Simple.

And to be absolutely clear, this isn’t about someone’s background or whether they’re a traveller. The overwhelming majority obey the law.

It’s about the minority who don’t.

Same rules. Same enforcement. Whoever you are.

Rupert Lowe's Party wants to scrap the state pension triple lock and replace it with increases linked only to inflation.

Great Yarmouth has one of the oldest populations in the country.

The problem is that, over time, this risks pensions falling behind when wages grow faster than inflation. The triple lock was introduced to stop exactly that from happening. To cure pensioner poverty.

While potholes and crumbling roads continue to frustrate residents across Great Yarmouth, GY First’s county councillors have backed scrapping the Members’ Divisional Highways Budget, one of the few funding pots councillors can use to deliver local highway improvements.

This is backwards thinking and will only mean less is spent on our roads in the Borough.

Similar to the national level, Great Yarmouth is now coming last on a county one.

An insulting £40 a year tax cut to help with energy bills from the newly appointed PM Burnham.

Rather than allowing us all to keep a tiny portion of our own money, it is time to secure cheap and reliable energy for the long term, supporting families and businesses.

🚨Great Yarmouth Conservatives tell the Government to ram it.

The Labour Government’s new mandatory housing targets would mean a nearly 40% increase for Great Yarmouth, taking the total close to nearly 10,000 extra homes - something totally unachievable.

It's interesting that many Labour constituencies have seen a far less increase or none at all!

They want us to pick up the tab. With no infrastructure and no better link up with government departments to help.

We are not against new homes. Not at all. That's what separates us from others. Local families, young people and those wanting to stay in our borough need somewhere to live. We fully back the Borough Council's emerging Local Plan. We just can't accept a 40% increase on top pushed on residents.

But growth must be fair, realistic and backed by proper infrastructure.

If you agree that Great Yarmouth needs homes, but not totally unrealistic targets imposed without the infrastructure to support them, please add your name to our petition.

A huge thank you to the thousands of residents who backed their local Conservative candidates across Great Yarmouth at the recent elections.

It was a tough fight, but we left absolutely nothing on the table and campaigned hard for our communities, our towns, and our villages.

Our commitment to Great Yarmouth doesn’t stop after election day, and neither does our work for local residents.

The campaign for the new unitary council is already underway, and we are back out on the doorstep listening to residents, standing up for our area, and fighting for the future our borough deserves.
