🐅 Exciting Tiger Update 🐅

We are delighted to share that our Sumatran tigers, Raja and Lotte, have now been successfully introduced to one another.

This milestone is the result of a careful, gradual introduction process. Our keepers have closely monitored every stage, allowing both tigers to become familiar with each other’s scent, sounds, and presence before progressing to direct contact. By taking a slow and steady approach, we have been able to ensure that both animals remained comfortable and confident throughout the process.

We are thrilled with how Raja and Lotte have responded to one another and look forward to continuing to monitor their relationship as it develops.

Happy birthday Sir David Attenborough! 💯🥳🎂

Meet Kilat 🐾

We’re thrilled to welcome Kilat, our new beautiful female clouded leopard, to Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens! Kilat has joined us from Shepreth Wildlife Park and will soon be introduced to our resident male, Nimbus.

Her arrival marks an exciting new chapter for us, following the recent redevelopment of our clouded leopard habitat.

🌿 Conservation matters
Clouded leopards are classed as Vulnerable in the wild, with populations threatened by habitat loss and poaching. Managed breeding programmes in zoos play a vital role in safeguarding their future.

📘 What is a breeding recommendation?
Kilat and Nimbus have been paired following a recommendation from the European clouded leopard studbook. This means experts have carefully assessed their genetics, age, and compatibility to ensure any future cubs will help maintain a healthy and genetically diverse population in conservation programmes.

We’re incredibly proud to play our part in protecting this elusive species—and we can’t wait for you to meet Kilat on your next visit 💚

📍 Book online to visit and see her settling in!

🌍✨ Happy World Civet Day! ✨🌿

Today, we’re celebrating one of the animal kingdom’s most elusive and fascinating creatures — the civet! 🐾

Civets play a vital role in their ecosystems, particularly as seed dispersers. By helping to spread seeds through their natural behaviours, they contribute to healthy forests and biodiversity. Sadly, many civet species face growing threats from habitat loss, hunting, and the wildlife trade — making conservation efforts more important than ever.

Here at Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens, we’re proud to be one of only two collections in the UK to care for the rare Owston’s palm civet. This little-known species is native to Southeast Asia and is considered endangered in the wild, with populations declining due to human pressures.

By visiting and supporting us, you’re helping to raise awareness and contribute to the protection of these incredible animals. Together, we can ensure civets continue to thrive for generations to come 💚

📍 Come and discover more about our amazing residents and the work we do to protect them.

We’ve been keeping a secret from you…

We’re incredibly excited to finally share some big news — Lotte, a beautiful 3-year-old Sumatran tiger, has arrived at Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens! 🐅

Lotte has travelled yesterday from Berlin Zoo to join our resident male tiger Raja, as part of the European Endangered Species Programme (EEP). She is considered one of the more genetically valuable tigers within the programme, making her an incredibly important addition to the conservation breeding efforts for this critically endangered species.

Our keepers are busy behind the scenes helping Lotte settle into her new home, and we’re thrilled to finally introduce her to you all. Everyone at Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens is excited to welcome her and we can’t wait for visitors to see her exploring her new surroundings.

Keep watching to see Lotte’s first moments arriving at the park… 👀

🐅 Welcome to Norfolk, Lotte!
