๐ŸŒฑ Groundbreaking move in Maidstone!

Maidstone Borough Council has become the first in the UK to adopt a Rights of Nature framework ๐ŸŒ, recognising that nature has the right to exist, thrive and evolve

This isnโ€™t symbolic. It embeds nature into decision-making, from planning and housing to protecting rivers, trees and wildlife ๐ŸŒฟ while balancing social and economic needs

๐Ÿ‘ Backed by real action like tree planting, habitat protection and climate plans

๐Ÿ’ฌ Should more councils follow this lead?

The Badger Cull is Over!!!

Now that's the good news. But it took almost 250,000 badgers to be killed before they listened to the evidence that badgers are NOT responsible for the high rates of bovine TB in cattle.

94% of TB found in cattle was transmitted cow to cow. Badger tracking data confirmed they avoided cattle, pasture land and farmyards according to the Badger Trust. The most recent data showed just 5% of badgers tested were positive for TB.

By 2024 they couldn't find any more badgers to kill.

The BBC reported that 270,000 cattle were slaughtered in the last ten years due to bovine TB. They didn't mention how many badgers were killed. Almost 250,000. Equivalent to over half the entire badger population of England.

Wales chose badger vaccination over culling from the start. And although badger vaccinations have already begun across the rest of Great Britain, cattle vaccines won't be ready until 2029.

Here in the UK we are one of the most nature-depleted countries on the planet. England sits in the bottom 10% globally for biodiversity and has lost more of its natural wildlife than almost any other nation in Western Europe.

Hedgerows gone, ancient woodland cleared, rivers straightened, wetlands drained, insects collapsing, birds disappearing and building on greenfield sites. The badger cull is one example of treating wildlife as an inconvenience to be managed or eliminated, rather than as part of a living world we belong to and can be proud of. ๐Ÿฆก

Vanuatu wins UN fight despite DISAPPEARING into the Ocean.

141 countries voted in favour making Climate Change a legal obligation this week. Law students from the island nation of Vanuatu campaigned hard in the face of rising sea levels that are engulfing their nation.

Whilst 141 countries voted Yes, it's important to note those that refused and voted No. The eight countries that voted against were the US, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iran, Yemen, Liberia and Belarus.

These countries include the world's largest fossil fuel producers and their political allies. The US ambassador dismissed concerns about climate change as "alarmist political statements" , apparently finding it controversial to describe it as "an unprecedented challenge of civilisational proportions."

The beautiful islands of Vanuatu comprise numerous islands in the Pacific. One of the least environmentally impactful countries in the world. Named one of the happiest places to live, where tribes live close to nature, and where the famous Prince Philip worshipping tribe lives.

The new law also means that once Vanuatu and other nations like the Solomon Islands are lost forever to rising waters, they keep their legal national identity. Even if they are gone.

**Warning! A Super El Nino is on its way**

- Scientists are now warning that a Super El Nino is forming in the Pacific Ocean. El Nino boosts already rising sea temperatures in the ocean that has a devastating knock on effect worldwide.

*Droughts. *Floods. *Wildfires. *Heatwaves across the planet.

- According to the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, there is a 100% chance of a Super El Nino forming by November 2026.

- The UK Met Office warns El Nino will bring much hotter summers and colder winters, increased flooding and drought. For communities across the north of England, flooding is not a distant threat. We have already seen its devastating impact on homes, businesses and lives.

- It will also hit our food prices. When harvests fail across the world, it shows up in our supermarkets.

- The UK government has cut its foreign aid budget more than any other country, including the US. This means the most vulnerable people in the world will not be able to cope with these extreme weather events. Famine and displacement will be inevitable.

- We must increase foreign aid, specifically to help vulnerable communities in our world to tackle this.

- The People's Emergency Briefing must be shown nationally.

- The Climate Crisis must be taken seriously.

- The science must not be ignored!
