What a brilliant post! Thank you so much for coming along and supporting us ❤️

A fantastic evening at the ECVYS - Essex Council for Voluntary Youth Services Annual Celebration.

It was inspiring to be alongside youth organisations from across Essex, Southend and Thurrock, together with partners from Brentwood Borough Council, the and the , Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex , celebrating the impact of youth work and hearing about exciting initiatives including the 2025–26 Youth Voice Listening Project and the Essex Youth Map.

The voluntary youth sector continues to play a vital role in supporting, listening to and advocating for young people. Behind every project, club, mentoring session and conversation are dedicated people making a real difference in young lives every day.

We're grateful to be part of such a passionate network, working together to help young people feel connected, valued and heard.

Funding opportunity for youth work places and spaces from Jack Petchey Foundation

Funding opportunity for youth work places and spaces from Jack Petchey Foundation

We are delighted to launch the Jack Petchey Places & Spaces Fund, a major £2 million investment to improve and transform spaces for young people across London and Essex.

Created in honour of our founder, Sir Jack Petchey CBE, it is an addition to our annual investment of over £10.7m in grants and programmes. The new fund will support youth organisations and uniformed groups to refurbish, upgrade and reimagine the places where young people learn, connect, build confidence and develop their voice.

With the importance of place-based investment in young people and their communities being highlighted in the Government’s Youth Matters strategy, which emphasised the need for safe, inclusive and high-quality local spaces that strengthen belonging, participation and opportunity for young people, we feel we can make a real difference with this fund.

Over the next two years, the Places & Spaces Fund will award grants between £5,000 and £25,000 to eligible organisations currently delivering the Jack Petchey Achievement Award Scheme.

Youth Voice is a core principle of the Foundation and will be central to this fund too. We believe young people should help shape the spaces designed for them. We will encourage this happens through the application process, and how we as a Foundation select which applications are successful through dialogue with our wonderful Youth Consultation Panel members.

We are now open to Expressions of Interest, and youth organisations and uniformed groups can apply and find out more here: https://www.jackpetcheyfoundation.org.uk/jack-petchey-places-spaces-fund/

Great to see young people from Essex involved in this. Well done Essex Youth Service. The National Youth Agency

Great to see young people from Essex involved in this.
Well done Essex Youth Service. The National Youth Agency

Young people attended Number 10 yesterday, supported by NYA, to speak to the Prime Minister and other members of the Cabinet about social media harms.

In a rare opportunity to speak with those at the heart of Government, young people called for stronger online safeguards rather than a blanket social media ban. Because for many, digital spaces are lifelines for connection, learning and support.

At the National Youth Agency, we’re proud to help young people be heard and to champion the role of youth workers in building the skills and confidence they need to thrive online.

The meeting was part of the Growing Up in the Online World consultation which is due to close next week.
