Feeling safe in your own community shouldn't be too much to ask.
In this video, Deputy leader of Essex County Council Russell Quirk - Brentwood & Essex Councillor for Hutton speaks with Springfield by election candidate Tomy Sebastian and local resident Sue about crime, community safety, and the concerns many residents are raising on the doorstep.
Sue shares her worries as a mother of a young daughter and explains why she feels increasingly concerned about safety in Chelmsford. Among the issues discussed are reports of groups of unfamiliar young men being regularly dropped off in the Springfield area, which some local residents say has contributed to growing anxiety about community safety.
Tommy believes that residents deserve answers when concerns are raised and that those responsible for policing and public safety must be held accountable. Local people have every right to expect safe streets, responsive policing, and transparency from those making decisions that affect their communities.
Too many residents tell us they are worried about crime, antisocial behaviour, and the safety of young people. These concerns should not be ignored.
