Wyndham Park, Grantham

Wyndham Park, Grantham Wyndham Park in is one of the very best in Britain - and that's official! In 2019 the park was awarded Centenary Fields status by Fields in Trust.
(218)

Wyndham Park is arguably the jewel in the crown of parks owned by South Kesteven District Council. Its town centre location, next to Grantham’s Riverside Walk, means it’s hugely popular with visitors and locals alike. The park has achieved Green Flag status annually since 2012, a UK-wide mark of excellence for parks and gardens. Winning the award means that Wyndham Park is recognised as being amon

gst the best in the country. Since 2020 the park has also achieved Green Heritage Site accreditation; an award supported by Historic England, that acknowledges management and maintenance standards in respect of the parks’ heritage. Working in partnership with The Royal British Legion the programme protects parks and green spaces in perpetuity, to honour the memory of the millions who lost their lives in World War I. There is an interesting variety of events and activities taking place in both the park and the Visitor Centre throughout the year. Further information will be provided on this page as appropriate. SKDC and the Wyndham Park Forum welcome new volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering to help with the Visitor Centre, to support events, or in the management or maintenance of the park, we want to hear from you. Please email [email protected]

Celebrate Dragonfly Day at Wyndham Park this Friday, 12th June! 🐛 The Friends of Queen Elizabeth Park are hosting a free, drop-in talk all about these amazing insects.
Where: Wyndham Park Visitor Centre
When: Friday, 12th June at 11:00am
Fee: Completely free!

No booking required—just turn up and discover the wonder of dragonflies! ✨

🔍 Species Spotlight: Emperor Dragonfly

One of the UK's largest and most spectacular dragonflies, the Emperor Dragonfly is hard to miss as it patrols ponds and lakes. Look for its apple-green thorax, sky-blue abdomen (in males) and powerful, fast flight, often rarely settling for long.

If you're spotting dragonflies during PondWatch weekend, don't forget to record your sightings on iRecord. Every record helps us build a better picture of dragonfly populations across the UK.

And there's more exciting news... the Emperor Dragonfly has been shortlisted as a potential design for the next UK banknotes! 💷✨ If you'd like to see this magnificent species in everyone's pocket, be sure to cast your vote.
