Wow April already! Wednesday 1st April is our monthly woodland cleanup up. One thing we have all noticed by doing this each month is how much the wood changes each season, last month it was wild daffodils and blackthorn in flower.... tomorrow...well join us and find out?

The last task morning for us this year, the wood was looking beautiful in the December sunshine, and not a lot of rubbish to clear, the trolly just about managed. We will be back on 7th January!

Looking to nature instead of plastic for seasonal decorations. Sue from the Wildlife Trust has been busy foraging winter evergreens, herbs and cones to decorate rattan wreaths, and once Christmas is you can reuse the bases to make a spring or simmer one ! Details of booking on the poster. This is a sit down event so also ideal for anyone who is struggling to get out and about.

We are out this Wednesday morning in Greystone wood for our now monthly woodland cleanup. Meeting at the usual place, end of Shakespeare Ave next to Kingsley Field. As it the last meet up of the year, some seasonal morning snacks planned ! Come and say hello!
A big thank you to Frog/Grangetown United Hub for arranging for us to store out trash busting trolley with them.

And a little video of an inhabitants of the woods who appreciates a clean safe environment, sent to us by Robert Baptie on his walk there last week!

Great news- Greystone wood is much cleaner due to two and a half years of almost weekly litter picking and fly tipping work as well and the greater respect that there now is amongst visitors to the wood.🥰
Its also fabulous to see so many more people out on walks there enjoying the peace and tranquillity.🍁🍂🪵
We are now moving to a monthly volunteer morning on the first Wednesday of the month, meeting at 10 am at the junction of Kingsley Field and Shakespeare Ave.
There remains a continued issue of fly tipping on the edges of the woodland but this is too big and unpleasant task for the volunteers to keep on doing.
We welcome new additions to our fab team! We also do tree planting, wild flower planting and drink tea!

It is amazing what can pile into our trolly! Although today we were a bit ambitious and the whole thing tipped over, just yards from the collection point!

We welcomed our esteemed leader back this week after his knee operation, Rob did a very good job of waving his arms about to point out litter and eat bakewell tarts!

We were dismayed to discover burn out cars, our RCBC countryside ranger, Fey, was quick to arrange their removal with a local company and the gates that had been left open by the substation are now hopefully locked again. We uncovered an old pile of rusty metal, which actually looked like modern art.

on a positive note we met some cheerful locals enjoying the wood and a local resident who has been filling his bin with tin cans and litter from Kingsley field.
So a productive and positive morning!

Another busy morning for the Greystone Foresters!
