Think Blue Light!

We all know that with how some streets are laid out and the increase in vehicles per household that sometimes it's difficult to park. We're asking all of you to "think blue light" when you park...

The gap needed between parked cars is about 3 metres for a fire engine to pass.

Recently whilst on the way to a job our crews had to stop and be directed by a member of the crew to get through this tight gap and on the way to an incident, every second can count.

We are asking all of you to be extra vigilant with your parking to ensure that when you need us, we can get to you quickly!

We’d just like to reassure all of you that if we are attending an incident, where there is a life risk, we would get through somehow, either by "bumping" a vehicle (we get out of the truck and manually bounce the vehicle), by attempting another route (or sending the next fire engine via another route) or by running hose down the road (or just running down the road!!!!).

We will always do everything we can to get to you as quickly as we can BUT badly parked cars WILL slow us down.
