SUNDAY STORY 👨👨👦👦
This week's story focuses on a family who had just given birth to twin boys. Mum was experiencing extreme tiredness as the boys were very demanding and she also had an older daughter to care for. Dad was self-employed and worked long hours, including weekends, to keep the money coming in, and so was not able to spend as much time as he would have liked at home with his family. They had been struggling to make ends meet and so a day off work resulted in less money coming into the home.
Mum was struggled to cope and did not have any local family support available to her.
Home-Start volunteer Louise started visiting when the babies were around 2 months old, offering an extra pair of hands at feeding times and listening to mum's worries and concerns.
Louise supported mum to get herself and her babies to Doctor's appointments for their health needs and baby immunisations, as having two screaming babies to cope with was a very stressful and upsetting experience for mum. Mum was able to get the dental care that she needed and had been putting off for ages.
Living on a busy road, with steps up to front door, made even the simplest journeys with a double buggy a challenge for this lovely mum.
As time moved on, the family were able to move to a 3 bed home, nearer to friends and their daughter's school, crucially the boys could have their own bedroom, and everyone in the family benefitted from more sleep.
Mum told us "Louise was brilliant, she helped me so much and in so many different ways. She helped me to cope at a very difficult time." ♥️
