RIAT RAF Fairford Unofficial

RIAT RAF Fairford Unofficial Welcome to the BIG GUIDE to the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT).

This independent guide brings together helpful planning tips, travel advice, and attendee experiences to help you prepare for RIAT. The Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) Is the Worlds Largest Air show containing hundreds of modern military aircraft in the static line-up and air display from many different countries around the world. RIAT is held at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire which is a la

rge base and is used by USAF, which makes it an ideal venue for such a large Airshow. RIAT takes place over a weekend in July, and you can also view the aircraft on arrival days and departure day. There is also a shorter 4 hour display held on the Friday before the main weekend air displays.

Today we attended RAF Cosford Air Show (Official), it was great to be attending an airshow again. We want to say how well today was, and the flying display was impressive. Six and a half hours of flying today was a welcome sight. Well done to the organisers and the RAF for putting this amazing show on.

We hope to attend more Air Shows this year to share these on our YouTube and Facebook channels.

Did you attend Cosford today, if so what was your favourite display?

If you haven’t seen our previous post, we’re currently working on an exciting new project for 2027. For more information, please take a look at the original post below.

We’re also looking for volunteers to help bring this project to life. If you’d like to get involved and be part of something new, we’d love to hear from you.

Something new is coming… and we need your help!

The Big Guide to UK Air Shows.

We’ve been quietly working on something exciting behind the scenes, and we’re hoping to have it up and running later this year, ready for the start of next year’s air show season.

The Big Guide to RIAT is growing, but now we want to go even bigger.

Below is the first phase, however, we would like to work with Official Air Show sites, business etc. If your interested please get in touch, however more details will be released soon.

We’re planning to create a separate website dedicated to air show guides for major air shows across the UK. There are already a few air show websites out there, but we want to do something different, something practical, friendly, useful, and built by people who genuinely love the air show scene.

👀 Want to see the sort of thing we mean?

To give you an idea of our plans, please visit:

www.thebigguidetoriat.co.uk

This will give you a feel for the kind of guides, advice, and helpful information we want to build, but this time covering air shows across the UK.

👀 What are we planning?

The new website will be similar in spirit to The Big Guide to RIAT, but instead of focusing on just one event, we want to create helpful guides for air shows across the UK.

The aim is to help people who are:

New to air shows
Visiting a show for the first time
Interested in aviation photography
Looking for practical tips before they go
Unsure what to pack, where to stand, or what to expect
Keen to make the most of their airshow day

We want the site to include things like top tips, photography advice, packing lists, viewing guidance, airshow-specific information, and honest advice from people who actually attend these events.

🙋‍♂️ We’re looking for Air Show Experts

This is where you come in.

We’re looking for airshow goers, aviation enthusiasts, photographers, TikTokers, content creators, and anyone with real experience of attending UK airshows.

Do you know a particular airshow inside out?

Do you have tips that could help first-time visitors?

Are you great at photography advice, social media, writing guides, creating videos, or sharing useful information?

Would you like to be involved in building something from the ground up?

We’d love to hear from you.

🛠️ What we need help with

We’re looking for volunteers who can help us create and build what we hope will become one of the biggest and most useful airshow websites in the UK.

You could help with:

Writing airshow guides
Sharing top tips for specific shows
Photography advice
What to pack for airshows
Content ideas
Social media content
TikTok or video content
Visitor advice for families, first-timers, and photographers
Helping us shape the website from the early stages

📍 Which air shows?
We’re hoping to cover major air shows across the UK.

So, if there’s an air show you know well and would like to become an “expert” for, let us know. Whether it’s a show you visit every year, photograph regularly, or simply know inside out, your experience could really help others.

Interested in getting involved?

This is a voluntary project, but it’s a chance to be part of something exciting from the very beginning.

If you’d like to be involved, please email us at:

[email protected]

Please include:

Your airshow experience
Which airshow you’d like to be an expert on
What skills you can bring
How you’d like to be involved
Any photography, social media, writing, video, or website experience you may have
🚀 Let’s build something new for the UK airshow scene

The UK airshow scene deserves something fresh, useful, and built with real passion behind it.

So, if you fancy being part of this new project and helping airshow visitors get more from their days out, we’d love to hear from you.

Come and help us build it from the ground up. ✈️

This wasn’t originally planned as a video. I was actually hoping to make something properly for this year, but with the recent news about the cancellation of RIAT 2026, I just wanted to put together a quick video.

I also want to say that, from what we’ve seen on the official website and social channels, the team at RAF Fairford clearly put in a huge amount of effort to try and make RIAT 2026 happen. Sadly, with the circumstances and events that unfolded, it just wasn’t meant to be this time.

So in this video, I want to explain the direction we’ll be taking next.

Even though RIAT 2026 sadly isn’t going ahead, we’re staying positive. The plan is to keep the channel and website full of useful content, while also helping you start planning ahead for RIAT 2027.

Check out the video to find out what we’ve got in store for 2026, and how we’ll be keeping the RIAT spirit alive until the next show.
