RIAT RAF Fairford Unofficial

RIAT RAF Fairford Unofficial Welcome to the BIG GUIDE to the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT).

This independent guide brings together helpful planning tips, travel advice, and attendee experiences to help you prepare for RIAT. The Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) Is the Worlds Largest Air show containing hundreds of modern military aircraft in the static line-up and air display from many different countries around the world. RIAT is held at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire which is a la

rge base and is used by USAF, which makes it an ideal venue for such a large Airshow. RIAT takes place over a weekend in July, and you can also view the aircraft on arrival days and departure day. There is also a shorter 4 hour display held on the Friday before the main weekend air displays.

Hampshire Air Festival 2026

Statement from Montserrat Events & Festivals Limited

It is with profound sadness that the directors of Montserrat Events & Festivals Limited have to announce the cancellation of the Hampshire Air Festival 2026 due to take place at Thruxton Aerodrome on 12 and 13 September.

As a consequence, steps are being taken to put the business into liquidation with the Directors taking independent legal and insolvency advice.

Ticket holders should contact their debit or credit card provider directly regarding their ticket purchase and to discuss the options available to them for recovering their payment.

Suppliers and other stakeholders will be contacted with further information regarding the process and any relevant claims or enquiries.

We are grateful to everyone who has supported the Hampshire Air Festival and Montserrat Events & Festivals Limited.

Sometimes, when we are standing at an airshow watching a display, it is easy to forget just how much is happening in front of us.

The skill. The control. The concentration. The years of training and experience behind every manoeuvre.

For us, it might be a great day out. It might be the chance to capture that perfect photograph, share it with friends, post it on Facebook or create a video to remember the day.

But behind every display is a pilot who has dedicated a huge part of their life to aviation.

They have families waiting for them at home. They have made sacrifices throughout their careers, spent countless hours training and preparing, and devoted years of their lives to doing something they love.

Sadly, some pilots have lost their lives while displaying at airshows around the world.

It is important that we never forget them.

They were not just names in a news story or aircraft in the sky. They were sons, daughters, husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, friends and colleagues. People with families, lives and stories away from the cockpit.

They gave us moments that many of us will remember for the rest of our lives.

So this post is dedicated to every pilot who has lost their life while displaying at an airshow.

Thank you for the memories, the photographs, the videos and those moments when an entire crowd stopped and simply looked towards the sky.

You will never be forgotten.

Rest in peace.

Blue skies. 💙

We need your ideas.

As you may have seen, we’re currently creating The Big Guide to UK Air Shows, designed to help people plan airshows across the UK.

Have you ever been to an airshow where something went wrong because you couldn’t find the information you needed beforehand?

Maybe parking wasn’t clear. You didn’t know where the best photography spots were. The walk from the car park was longer than expected. Or there was simply something you wish you had known before you arrived.

We want to help fix that.

We’re already creating new planning tools and features for the website, including a photography feature that helps show where the sun will be, what the lighting may be like and how this could affect where and how you photograph the display.

But now we want to hear from you.

What is missing from airshow planning websites?

What tool, guide or piece of information would make planning your next airshow easier?

Comment your ideas below. If it is something we can realistically create, we’ll look at adding it to the website.

You can also email us at [email protected]

Your idea could end up helping thousands of other airshow visitors plan a better day.

Something new is coming for the 2027 UK airshow season.

Not just airshow dates.

Not just aircraft lists.

We are building detailed visitor guides covering parking, travel, photography, accommodation, accessibility, family planning, local knowledge and much more.

We’re currently creating a new website, The Big Guide to UK Air Shows, which will be available at ukairshowguide.co.uk.

We’re making steady progress and plan to launch later this year, ready for the 2027 airshow season.

We’re looking for anyone who would be happy to contribute photographs from major UK airshows. These images will help visitors visually explore their chosen airshow and understand what to expect before attending.

We’re particularly looking for photographs of:

* Flying displays
* Static aircraft
* Crowds and the general atmosphere
* Entrance and exit signs
* Car parks and arrival routes
* Food stalls and facilities
* Airshow signage

Your photographs don’t need to be professionally taken. Images captured on a phone or camera would be greatly appreciated, as long as they clearly show the airshow and its facilities. Please see the images posted below for examples of what we’re looking for.

All copyright will remain with the photographer, and full credit will be given. The photographs will only be used on The Big Guide to UK Air Shows website and its supporting content.

If you would like to contribute, please email us at [email protected]

Any support would be greatly appreciated.

We’re excited to announce that our new website, The Big Guide to UK Airshows, is on the way!

Our landing page is now live at https://www.ukairshowguide.co.uk/

The website is being designed to make planning an airshow day simple. Visitors will be able to choose their airshow and find useful information in one place, including travel and parking, photography advice, aircraft and news, food and drink, accommodation, what to bring, accessibility and more.

Each airshow will have its own dedicated guide, making it easier to plan your day before you travel and know what to expect when you arrive.

We’re currently looking for volunteers to help us build and grow the site ahead of launch. There are still plenty of roles available, whether you’re interested in photography, writing, video, social media, local airshow knowledge or simply helping us create useful visitor guides.

A huge thank you to everyone who has already joined us on this venture. We really appreciate your support and look forward to working with you as the website develops.

If you’d like to get involved, visit the website and use the contact form to request your FREE information pack.

We’re excited to announce that The Big Guide to UK Airshows will be launching later this year, ready to help aviation enthusiasts, families, photographers and first-time visitors plan better airshow days across the UK.

THE BIG GUIDE TO UK AIRSHOWS NEW FACEBOOK PAGE

Good morning all!

As you may have seen, we’re currently working behind the scenes on our brand-new website:

🌐 ukairshowguide.co.uk (not live just yet)

As the project grows, we’ve created a new page for The Big Guide to UK Airshows, allowing us to keep UK-wide airshow content separate from our RIAT page.

If you wouldn’t mind giving the new page a follow, we’d really appreciate the support.

The page will be used to share:

✈️ Airshow news and aircraft updates from across the UK
📅 Information and updates for upcoming shows
📸 Photography, visitor guides and useful planning information
🏕️ Camping and accommodation information
🍔 Support for local businesses, traders and exhibitors attending airshows
🎥 Photos, videos and content from events around the country

One of the big aims of The Big Guide to UK Airshows is not only to help visitors plan their airshow season, but also to support the small businesses, traders, campsites and organisations that help make these events what they are.

There’s plenty more to come as we continue building the website ready for the 2027 UK airshow season.

Thank you as always for your support, and we hope you’ll join us on this next chapter! ✈️🇬🇧

As a member of IWM Duxford, it’s fantastic to see these incredible aircraft being so well cared for.

A huge amount of time, dedication and hard work goes into keeping them clean, maintained and preserved for future generations to enjoy, and it’s always brilliant to see the work the team puts in behind the scenes.

If anyone is able to support them in reaching their fundraising target, any contribution would be greatly appreciated and will help them continue the fantastic work they do.

Every little bit of support helps to keep these historic aircraft looking their best and preserve an important part of our aviation heritage. ✈️🇬🇧
