πŸ“š The Lab Takeover: Books That Made Our Makers!

One of our technicians has kindly shared a selection of books that have inspired their creativity and imagination:

πŸ“– Wiggy
A much-loved book passed down from their mum, celebrating difference in a positive and heart-warming way.

🎨 About To Leave
An artist's self-published illustrated journal documenting a chapter of their life. A deeply personal and inspiring read.

πŸ‰ Legends & Lattes
The first in a cosy fantasy trilogy blending adventure, friendship, and tabletop RPG vibes. Book three is currently sitting proudly in the "to be read" pile, waiting to be devoured!

Keep an eye out for more book recommendations, creative influences, and behind-the-scenes insights from The Lab team throughout our September takeover. βœ¨πŸ“š

Who says reading has to mean sitting still?

We're sharing history-themed reads available through BorrowBox, supporting your child to complete their Borrow tasks and work towards Gold in The Library Challenge! Every child enjoys stories differently, and that's exactly what The Library Challenge is all about!

This week we're pairing:

πŸ“– Build It! Medieval World by Jennifer Kemmeter

🎧 Ladybird Audio Adventures: Castle

Build while you listen. Listen while you learn!

This medieval double act is perfect for children who love construction toys, hands-on activities, or who find it easier to engage with stories when they're doing something else at the same time.

Find them in our catalogue as:

βœ… eAudiobook

Audiobooks are reading too! Listening to stories builds vocabulary, comprehension and imagination, making them a brilliant option for busy families, and children who find traditional reading challenging. There's no wrong way to enjoy a story!

Don’t forget the other tasks too! Lego builds and other building fun can count towards Connect With STEAM, and other tasks too! Get to Gold to get all rewards!

It’s not too late to join! Any child age 3+ can join for free at any Gloucestershire Library now until 12th Sept. Complete a range of activities, chosen by your child, to collect rewards and work towards Gold!
