Project Solace

Project Solace Project Solace is Gloucester's Anti-Social Behaviour Team.

Our sole purpose it to tackle high level anti-social behaviour (ASB) and prevent incidents of ASB within the private sector of the City. Project Solace works alongside Policing Teams to provide a service for residents who are experiencing ASB caused by people who live in private rented properties or own their own homes, or where ASB is not specifically linked to a property but an area instead. The

Team is based at Gloucester City Council, and funded by Gloucester City Council and Gloucestershire Constabulary. Project Solace work with partner agencies such as the Police, Safer Gloucester, Gloucester City Council, Environmental Protection and support services in order to tackle the root causes of anti-social behaviour in order to stop ASB from re-occurring.

The Project Solace Team had an interesting Friday night, working with colleagues from Cheltenham Borough Council and Police in both Cheltenham and Gloucester. Our aim to engage with Street people and signpost them to access support from our partner agencies.

There is currently a knife amnesty taking place in Gloucestershire. If you have a knife, or any other sharp object that can be used as a weapon you can surrender it, no questions asked, at Barton Street Police Station.

Safety notes:
Knives being handed in should be wrapped. To avoid personal injury, the public are advised to use a few sheets of newspaper or cardboard to wrap the knife in - enough material to prevent it piercing through. It should then be sealed with lots of sticky tape to stop the knife from being easily removed or falling out of its wrapping.

In Gloucester Youth Court today, 15 year-old Deano Harrison was banned from all fast food shops and City Safe members in the city. This follows hundreds of reports of anti-social behaviour by Deano and his associates.

Project Solace, supported by Gloucester City Council and the City Safe Scheme, obtained the order banning Deano from the shops, and curbing his behaviour when in the city. Failure to comply with the order can result in a prison sentence.

Sylvia Lane, ASB officer for Project Solace, said ‘We have received reports from dozens of businesses and individuals who have been affected by Deano’s behaviour. We never want to take young people through the legal system, however in this case Deano has ignored every opportunity to change his behaviour. I am hopeful this Injunction will give some respite to the people and businesses of Gloucester.’

This is the fourth Youth Injunction obtained by Project Solace in Gloucester, since changes to the law allowed Injunctions to be given to minors.
