🚧 Reducing disruption during A40 Over Bridge works 🚧

We know the National Highways works on the A40 Over Bridge are having an impact — and we’re doing everything we can to help keep Gloucestershire moving.

From now until spring 2027, is carrying out essential repairs on this key route, used by around 5,000 vehicles an hour at peak times. While these works are being delivered by National Highways, we’re working behind the scenes to help minimise disruption across the wider network. This includes:

✅ Asking utility companies to avoid non-essential roadworks in the area
✅ Carefully reviewing all permit applications to keep additional works to a minimum
✅ Working closely with partners to keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible

We’re also encouraging drivers to plan ahead and consider alternative routes, especially during busy periods. Thank you for your patience while this essential work takes place.
