One Community, One Voice for Coopers Edge Community Centre

Just a quick reminder that there is only one week left to respond to the survey about creating a single parish council for Coopers Edge.

We have now received over 100 responses, which have provided amazing perspectives on how strongly people feel about Coopers Edge and why they value our neighbourhood community.

You can return paper surveys to the Community Centre or Pineholt Village Hall. We also have an online version available here:

๐Ÿก Have your say on how planning rule breaches are dealt with in Tewkesbury Borough.

The council is consulting on a new Planning Enforcement Plan that would simplify enforcement priorities, introduce a target to progress most cases within 30 working days, provide clearer guidance for reporting concerns, and allow the use of tools such as drones where appropriate.

More details can be found on our website, link below https://hucclecotepc.gov.uk/residents-and-businesses-asked-for-views-on-new-planning-enforcement-plan/

A honeybee colony is not a swarm of identical workers. It is a society, with clearly defined roles that each individual moves through over the course of its short life. ๐Ÿ

Six roles, one colony:

Queen: the only egg-layer in the colony. She lays a substantial number of eggs daily and lives 3 to 5 years while a worker lives 4 to 6 weeks. Her pheromones regulate the behaviour and mood of the entire colony.

Drone (male): no sting, no foraging, no guard duty. The sole purpose of a drone is to mate with a queen from another colony. In late summer, workers eject drones from the hive before winter.

Nurse bee: a young worker with active royal jelly glands. She feeds larvae and the queen. This role lasts the first two weeks of a worker's life before the glands become inactive.

Guard bee: detects intruders at the hive entrance using pheromone recognition. A guard that stings dies โ€” the sting tears away from the abdomen.

Forager: the oldest worker bees, in the last weeks of their lives. They collect nectar, pollen, and water. A single forager visits a large number of flowers in one trip and contributes a small amount of honey over its lifetime.

Wax worker: cleans cells, processes nectar into honey, and fans the combs to regulate hive temperature and evaporate moisture from the nectar to the correct water content for honey. ๐Ÿฏ
